  • Patent number: 7230568
Abstract: A global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver using phase lock loops for strong GNSS signals and automatic frequency control (AFC) loops for weak GNSS signals on a satellite-by-satellite basis. The phase lock loops or the AFC loops associated with particular GNSS satellites generate frequency feedback adjustments for tracking the carrier frequencies of the incoming GNSS signals in order to determine pseudoranges for calculating a location fix. The transition from an AFC loop to a phase lock loop is controlled for each GNSS signal depending on location quality parameters including a history of previous loop transitions, knowledge of whether a transition is in-progress, and a conditional PDOP. The conditional PDOP is the calculated PDOP where the pseudorange from the particular GNSS signal is removed from the computation of the location fix.

  • Patent number: 7061972
Abstract: A GPS receiver having channel clusters each having a memory-enhanced channel and several standard tracking channels. The memory-enhanced channel includes a signal memory for accumulating carrier frequency leveled signal samples over several epochs into supersamples for an epoch. During an acquisition mode the memory-enhanced channel borrows code correlators from the tracking channels and the carrier clock to the tracking channels is disabled. The supersamples are accumulated in the signal memory in realtime and then played back by the code correlators at a faster rate while the signal memory is accumulating a new set of supersamples. During a tracking mode, the signal memory is bypassed, the borrowed code correlators are returned and the carrier clock is enabled to the tracking channels.

  • Patent number: 6164209
Abstract: An ammunition cartridge has a tube extending along a central longitudinal axis from an aft end to a fore end. The tube has an interior surface and an exterior surface. A metallic head has a sleeve portion secured to the tube along an aft section of the tube and has a centrally-apertured web portion spanning the sleeve portion so as to form a base of the cartridge. A basewad is contained within the tube and is separately formed therefrom. The basewad is located proximate the aft end of the tube. The basewad has a generally cylindrical exterior surface engaging the interior surface of the tube, an aft surface contacting the metal head, an interior surface. The interior surface extends from a generally forward-facing inner portion, forward and outward to a generally inward-facing fore portion so as to define a skirt portion of the basewad between the exterior surface and interior surface. At least one projectile is carried within a fore volume of the tube. A propellant charge is located aft of the projectile.
