  • Patent number: 6363651
Abstract: An artificial, aquatic fishing lure which imitates the swimming motion of fresh and salt water fish and the method of manufacturing the same. The lure is used with a rod, line, hook, and usually a reel. The lure comprises an elongate body having thin, flexible fins extending along the body of the lure where the outer edges of these fins are longer in length than the attached edges. In another embodiment, a tail portion is included which may be helical in shape or ruffled. The helical design is present in a relaxed state. On tow through water, the helix is extended in a planar manner so that the fin forms a wavy or ruffled sheet-like membrane. In another embodiment, the lure is formed with a tail comprising two appendages which extend from the distal tail portion of the elongate body in an adjacent relationship to one another. In tow through water, the appendages which comprise the tail separate and effect the desired motion.

  • Patent number: 5640798
Abstract: An artificial, aquatic fishing lure which imitates the swimming motion of fresh and salt water fish and the method of manufacturing the same. The lure is used with a rod, line, hook, and usually a reel. A die is first formed having a cavity for forming an elongate body having thin, flexible fins extending along the body of the lure where the outer edges of these fins are longer in length than the attached edges. In another embodiment, a tail portion is formed which may be helical in shape or ruffled. The helical design is present in a relaxed state. On tow through water, the helix is extended in a planar manner so that the fin forms a wavy or ruffled sheet-like membrane. In tow through water, the appendages which comprise the tail separate and effect the desired motion.

  • Patent number: 5465523
Abstract: A fishing lure of resilient material which when retrieved from the water successfully duplicates the natural swimming motion of an eel or a snake such that the head and the tail of the lure moves back and forth along the longitudinal axis of the lure. The lure has an elongated head portion with ridges, a mid-body portion with a U-shaped configuration, and an enlarged tail portion. The lure is characterized by a predetermined resilience, and along with its U-shaped configuration, causes undulating motion of the head and tail portions. As the lure is retrieved from the water, the water forces cause the lure to reach toward a linear configuration until the lure resiliency has reached a maximum, whereupon, the lure reverts to its U-shaped configuration and so on. An alternative embodiment of the lure characterizes a lizard.

  • Patent number: 4709501
Abstract: Lures with dissimilar tail lengths which in one embodiment are characterized by a quad tail lure having a beaded body portion with first and second split tail components extending from a tail base, each of the split tail components characterized by an outside tail segment and a shorter inside tail segment. In a preferred embodiment the tail segments are curved inwardly toward each other in facing relationship and are separated by a slot, wherein the dissimilar tail lengths create two different actions in approximately the same plane at the same time. In another embodiment of the invention a twoin tail lure is disclosed, having a single split tail extending from a tail base with the tail member characterized by a pair of tail segments of dissimilar length. Retrieving the lure in water causes the tails to vibrate or undulate at different speeds in approximately the same plane.
