    Abstract: Disclosed herein are formulations configured to simulate “dirty” skin that has been contaminated with particulate pollution, natural skin secretions, and applied product (e.g., cosmetics). Relatedly, also disclosed are methods for determining the efficacy of a cleansing procedure that include applying the formulation to clean skin, cleaning the formulation from the skin, and determining the amount of formulation remaining on the skin. The relative amounts of formulation at each stage can be determined, for example, using colorimetric or digital image analyses.
