Abstract: A system and method is provided for facilitating a communication between at least a first and second user device, where the first and second users have accounts with the host and are currently in close proximity to one another, thereby providing an easy, nonintrusive method for expressing interest in and (at least initially) communicating with one another. The system preferably includes a host device in communication with a plurality of user devices via the Internet. In preferred embodiments, a map is presented to a user showing an individual's location with respect to the user. The user can then request to see the individual's profile and send a communication. The individual would then be notified and allowed to request the user's profile and respond accordingly. If there is a mutual interest, the individuals can then meet immediately, given their close proximity to one another.
