  • Publication number: 20180311469
Abstract: An antimicrobial, antiseptic, and antibacterial barrier has a flexible shield configured to slidingly engage a urinary catheter. The shield has one or more sections configured to conform and adhere to the urinary meatus and/or surrounding skin or tissues of a target patient. A flexible expandable drape is engaged with the shield and is axially aligned with the catheter to provide an additional layer of protection to prevent the passage of bacteria, fungi, and contaminants into the urinary tract. The shield and drape each comprise an antimicrobial, antiseptic, and antibacterial material.

  • Publication number: 20170209048
Abstract: A remote vital sign detection device has a sensor, an integrated circuit, and antenna. The integrated circuit is in communication with the sensor and the antenna. The sensor detects and generates an electronic response from a desired vital sign such as body temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure and sends a signal corresponding to that vital sign to the integrated circuit. The integrated circuit converts the vital sign signal into vital sign data and transmits the vital sign data off-board via the antenna. The vital sign data is then transmitted to an external reader. The external reader receives the vital sign data and processes it for display or read-out by medical staff. An option intermediate receiver may relay vital sign data from the vital sign detection device to the external reader. The vital sign detection device is placed in a non-implantable medical device.

  • Publication number: 20140107573
Abstract: This invention is generally related to catheters for insertion into a body cavity, duct or vessel, and more particularly to a tip or plug for a catheter. The catheter tip is constructed and arranged to form a seal on the end portion of the catheter tube, while a sleeve secured or formed integrally to the tip cooperates with the catheter tube to form a first balloon that encapsulates the tip of the catheter and a second balloon that positions the catheter within the body cavity, duct or vessel.

  • Patent number: 5339800
Abstract: Means for preventing contamination of the surgical viewing instrument including a flexible bag mounted on the proximal end of a hollow double walled tubular elongated member concentrically mounted to a borescope or surgical viewing instrument where the space between the walls define a passage for flowing fluid to a cuff or vortex generator disposed at the distal end of the tubular member which defines a discretely configured discharge port for flowing fluid over a lens surface for cleansing and defogging purposes. The lens serves to prevent blood, body fluid and other contaminates from back flowing and contaminating the surgical viewing instrument. A two-piece locking handle may be used to lock the lens cleaning apparatus to the borescope. Another embodiment includes a flexible tube utilized with the cuff.

  • Patent number: 5313934
Abstract: A hollow tubular elongated member is concentrically mounted to a borescope or surgical viewing instrument defining a spaced passage for flowing fluid to a cuff which is discretely located below the distal end of the lens of the borescope and which defines a discretely configured discharge port for flowing fluid over the lens surface for cleansing and defogging purposes. A two-piece locking handle may be used to lock the lens cleaning apparatus to the borescope. Another embodiment includes a flexible tube utilized with the cuff.

  • Patent number: 5295826
Abstract: A dental mirror including means for providing suction and rinsing service to the mouth cavity and the like including a substantially annular inlet port formed at the edge of the mirror housing interconnecting longitudinal passages formed in the dental mirror handle and a self-locking swivel coupling connecting the proximal end of the dental mirror handle and a hose or tube connected to a liquid or air and vacuum remotely mounted source. In one embodiment the area of the inlet port progressively increases and in another embodiment the upper and lower plates of the mirror housing are supported by aerodynamically clean struts and the mirror may form the upper plate.
