Abstract: An emergency escape device to which an escape rope is adapted to be secured, includes a unitary, one-piece steel anchor plate; a semi-spherical projection pressed outwardly of the center of the plate, to form an outward projection; portions of the outward projection cut out to form a central opening in the plate, while leaving an arcuate, outwardly extending securement band as a remnant of the outward projection to enable attachment of a carabiner; a peripheral opening cut out to one side of the central opening for receiving at least one bolt for securing the device to a wall; and at least one peripheral opening cut out at to an opposite side of the central opening for receiving at least one bolt member for securing the device to a wall; and the plate being heat treated to impart greater strength thereto.

Abstract: A paint accessory attachment for a stepladder includes a central housing removably fit over the top shelf of the stepladder, the central housing including an upper wall and inner side walls extending downwardly therefrom; a bottom wall extending outwardly from lower ends of the inner side walls; outer side walls extending upwardly from outer edges of the bottom wall; a circular paint can holding area on the upper wall; spaced apart pairs of vertical outer guide walls at inner surfaces of the outer side walls to form a first slot between each pair; spaced apart pairs of vertical inner guide walls secured to outer surfaces of the inner side walls in alignment with the outer guide walls to form a second slot between each pair, and dividers selectively positioned within selected first and second slots to form adjustable compartments between the inner side walls and the outer side walls.

Abstract: An escape implement assists a firefighter in exiting a burning building through a window by securing an elongate bar extending longitudinally and juxtaposed with a corner of the window. The bar is secured in place with sharp-ended members projecting from the bar in the same lateral directions for piercing the wall to anchor the bar to the wall so as to span the corner, with an intermediate portion of the bar placed relative to the corner for enabling the attachment of an escape line to the intermediate portion of the bar. The escape line is attached to a looped member coupled with the bar for swiveling about the longitudinal direction so as to avoid the transmission of torque from the escape line to the bar which otherwise could tend to dislodge the sharp-ended members from the wall.

Abstract: A safety shield for isolating a heated appliance, such as a stove or an oven, from the reach of children includes a flexible sheet of material having securing portions along opposite vertical edges for securing the sheet adjacent the sides of the front face of the appliance and an arched shielding portion extending horizontally between the securing portions and spanning the front face of the appliance, the arched shielding portion being bowed outwardly away from the front face of the appliance to shield the appliance from the reach of children.

Abstract: A universal pacifier case provides a sanitary enclosure for baby pacifiers of the type having a nipple, a guard flange and a handle, the pacifier case including a housing fully enclosing the nipple and the guard flange, with the handle projecting out of the housing, the housing having a pair of wall members hinged together for opening and closing the housing about the pacifier, the wall members including interengaging dust-sealing members along the peripheral edges of the wall members and an aperture in the wall members having a configuration generally complementary to the handle of the pacifier so as essentially to seal the pacifier within the housing when the housing is closed about the pacifier.
