  • Patent number: 6690326
Abstract: A phased array antenna system in accordance with the present invention is configured to transfer signal energy between an antenna array and a source/target via multiple subbeams respectively carried in different frequency channels. Each antenna array element can thus receive a composite signal which can be band pass filtered to separate the different frequency channel signal components. By separating the signal components, a different phase taper can be applied to each signal component thereby enabling coherent signal energy to be derived from each antenna element. The derived signal energy can then be combined to produce an antenna input/output signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 21, 2002
Date of Patent: February 10, 2004
    Assignee: ITT Manufacturing Enterprises, Inc.
Inventors: Jeffery T. Nemit, Gregory G. Charlton, Charles E. Quintero, Wendell D. Bradshaw

  • Patent number: 5491489
Abstract: A high gain antenna that produces a pencil beam along the ground and a lower gain antenna that produces a beam extending above the pencil beam are coupled to a source of r.f. pulses so that the amplitude of the r.f. pulses applied to the high gain antenna is less than the amplitude of the r.f. pulses applied to the lower gain antenna during airplane detection and the full amplitude of the r.f. pulses during a pulse segment is applied to the high gain antenna during wind pattern detection.

  • Patent number: 4229746
Abstract: A multiple port loop-coupler, commutating feed for a circular or cylindrical array. A rotor having a plurality of elongated coupling loops circumferentially spaced about an arc of its perimeter is fed from a strip line configuration excited at the driven central axis of the rotor. A plurality of elongated stater loops within essentially the same radial dimensions but extending throughout the full 360 degrees of the circular perimeter of the device continuously couples a changing fraction of the stater loops to the rotor as the latter is rotated. An output port is provided connected to each stater loop, and these output ports may then be discreetly connected to corresponding elements of a circular array or columns of elements of a cylindrical array.
