Patent number: 11953134Abstract: A fitting for a pipe has a cylindrical sleeve and a spigot fitted concentrically within the sleeve. The sleeve is slidable along the spigot in a proximal direction. The sleeve has a gripper ring cavity with a conical bearing surface with a diameter that is smaller at the distal end and a larger at the proximal end. One or more gripper rings fit within the cavity and slidingly engage the bearing surface. The spigot has an outer surface sized to fit within a proximal end of the pipe. The inner surface of the gripper rings and the outer surface of the spigot define an annular space with a first radial width sized to accept insertion of the proximal end of the pipe. When the sleeve is moved with respect to the spigot in the proximal direction toward a sealed position, the rings are inwardly compressed by the bearing surface to grip an outer surface of the pipe. The end of the pipe is drawn into a space between the sleeve and the spigot with radial width smaller than the first radial width.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2022Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Inventors: Gregory Harlan Goble, Christopher Michael Hoang

Patent number: 11892089Abstract: The present disclosure provides gas valve assemblies that include a replaceable excess flow valve within a movable flow control body that is removably secured within a valve seat housing. The gas valve assemblies permit the replacement of an excess flow valve without interrupting the supply of gas to a structure and without replacing gas piping.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2022Date of Patent: February 6, 2024Assignee: Hubbell IncorporatedInventor: Gregory Harlan Goble

Patent number: 11384882Abstract: Spigot device including a spigot formed with exterior gripping teeth and sleeve device to telescope over the spigot. The sleeve device is formed with a radially inwardly opening, distally contracting conical bearing surface which mounts a radially inwardly contractible gripper ring device captive therein, and constructed to be driven radially inwardly by the bearing surface as the sleeve is drawn proximally on the spigot to grip a plastic pipe trapped in the annulus between the sleeve and spigot.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2019Date of Patent: July 12, 2022Assignee: R.W. LYALL COMPANY, INC.Inventors: Gregory Harlan Goble, Christopher Michael Hoang

Publication number: 20200109802Abstract: Spigot device including a spigot formed with exterior gripping teeth and sleeve device to telescope over the spigot. The sleeve device is formed with a radially inwardly opening, distally contracting conical bearing surface which mounts a radially inwardly contractible gripper ring device captive therein, and constructed to be driven radially inwardly by the bearing surface as the sleeve is drawn proximally on the spigot to grip a plastic pipe trapped in the annulus between the sleeve and spigot. The steps of selecting a spigot device including a distally projecting spigot of a predetermined outside diameter. Selecting a sleeve device formed with a radially inwardly opening interior retainer collar with an interior distally extending and radially and inwardly sloped bearing surface defining a gripper ring cavity.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2019Publication date: April 9, 2020Inventors: Gregory Harlan Goble, Christopher Michael Hoang

The method includes selecting a sleeve device to fit over a spigot and an interfitting retainer collar with an interior distally extending and radially and inwardly sloped bearing surface defining a gripper ring cavity. Selecting a gripper ring device which is contractible radially inwardly and inserting it in the cavity and retaining the gripper ring device to cooperate in forming an annulus for receipt of a plastic pipe and causing the gripper ring device to grip the pipe.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2015Date of Patent: February 4, 2020Assignee: R.W.
