Abstract: A method and digital video recorder (DVR) mechanism that (1) filters out added graphical content that a user/viewer does not wish to view during live feed and/or playback of a recorded program, (2) adds graphical content to a live feed and/or recorded program, and (3) enables manipulation of graphical content for display with live feed and/or recorded programs. The logic/functionality of the DVR is enhanced to include features/functionality that allows the viewer to filter/add/manipulate certain graphical content (and its associated audio) from/to/within the program being displayed on the display screen. The received broadcast content contains identifying information about the graphical content, separate from the identifying information of the program content that that would allow the DVR functionality to identify and filter out certain (or all) aspects of the graphics.

Abstract: A computer program product for providing presentations to a plurality of individuals includes instructions for creating a plurality of sub-presentations related to a master presentation wherein each sub-presentation comprises a plurality of slides having content customized for each of the participants; distributing the plurality of sub-presentations to each of the respective participants; and displaying each sub-presentation to each of the respective participants as the presentation.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is described for highlighting related user interface controls to selected items in order to improve the ease of use and the intuitiveness of a graphical user interface. In preferred embodiments, user interface controls that are related to a selected object in the display are uniquely highlighted when an object is selected to show the user what user interface options are related to or available to perform some action on the selected object. The preferred embodiments of related highlighted controls can be used in conjunction with prior art highlighted controls that show what actions are available to the user for the current environment or cursor location.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for implementing location-specific transaction services by a dispensing device situated in a defined geographic community are provided. The method includes providing location-specific information, including costs for items specific to the defined geographic community, and which are representative of a cost of living for the defined geographic community. The location-specific information is presented in a currency and language native to a requester of the location-specific information, as well as in a currency native to the defined geographic community. The location-specific information also includes a summation of costs for items selected by the requester, which is presented in a currency and language native to the requester and in a currency native to the defined geographic community. The method also includes executing a transaction between a financial institution and the requester based upon the summation of costs.

Abstract: A system administration console integrates both manual tasks and autonomic tasks to the view of a human system administrator. The system administration console includes an autonomic administration indication mechanism that indicates to a human system administrator when autonomic managers are in the process of performing autonomic functions. The system administrator has the option of pausing or halting any displayed autonomic managers that may be running. The system administration console further includes an autonomic administration zone restriction mechanism that allows the system administrator to define one or more zones in which activity of autonomic managers may be restricted or prevented.

Abstract: A movement-based filtering mechanism in a graphical user interface allows a user to filter search results by simply moving a pointer, such as a mouse. One or more attributes are displayed to the user in a graphical format. By selecting the pointer (such as clicking on a mouse button), the user may dynamically filter the search results according to the attribute(s) under the pointer. Weighting of multiple attributes may be performed according to the time the pointer spends in each attribute area in the display, or according to a path length of the pointer in each attribute area in the display. In addition, the speed of the dynamic filtering may be directly controlled according to the speed of the movement of the pointer. A timeline may also be displayed that allows the user to go back to any suitable point in time in the filtering process.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for implementing self-modeling of computer systems componentry. Each computer system component includes a scalable vector graphic (SVG). The SVG provides a graphical representation for the respective computer system component. The SVGs are collected and a visual representation of the computer system is generated.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium that, in an embodiment, simulate allocation of a simulated resource to simulated partitions in a simulated logically-partitioned computer and determine whether the allocation conflicts. The simulation may include summing amounts of the simulated resource for the simulated partition in an order, where the order of the simulated partitions is received via a user interface. In various embodiments, the allocation may conflict if the allocation exceeds the capacity of the simulated logically-partitioned computer or if the simulated resource is restricted to exclusive allocation. The result of the simulation, including whether the allocation conflicts, is presented via the user interface. In various embodiments, the simulated resource may be memory, an I/O controller, or a storage device.

The tree is determined by repeatedly probing the links to retrieve the documents. In various embodiments, the size of the tree may be the number of levels in the tree or the number of links in the tree. The depth indicator may include representations of the links and represents a possible future context of the root document. In various embodiments, a graphical representation of the tree may be displayed, hover help that includes the tree size may be displayed, and an indication of a condition reported by a document may be displayed. In various embodiments, the condition may include a message, updated content, new content, or an error.

Abstract: An interactive presentation environment for eMeetings or the like that provides participants with more control over what they see and hear. One embodiment of the interactive presentation environment comprises a meeting recorder adapted to create a recording of a live meeting and a navigation control for selecting a portion of the recording to view during the live meeting. Some embodiment may further comprise a timeline control containing a first graphical indicator associated with a live position and a second graphical indicator associated with a current position, a bookmark control adapted to mark a portion of the recording for archiving, and a display operatively connected to the meeting recorder and the navigation control.

Abstract: A system in accordance with the present invention provides an improved console navigation area for managing multiple folders and applications. In particular, the present invention permits a user to create logical relationships among computer objects inline and dynamically within a navigation area, e.g., files, folders or application using search and filtering tools and to save them for later recall. The user specifies a name describing the search or filter results, and the search or filter results can be saved as a discrete entry in an easy to access selectable list. In other embodiments, the system of the present invention permits a user to collect a number of actions available in multiple application programs and save them under a unique name.

Abstract: A computer implemented method for monitoring changes to an electronic document having a primary predefined purpose is provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises accessing an attribute of the electronic document, wherein the attribute is specifically and solely configured to reflect the primary predefined purpose of the electronic document, determining whether the attribute indicates that a status of the primary predefined purpose has changed, and displaying a change notification when the status of the primary predefined purpose has changed.
