Abstract: A system transmits data, which includes a plurality of data types, over a plurality of communication paths. The system determines which of the plurality of communication paths are available for transmitting the data. The system then determines at least one desired quality of service characteristic for each of the data tapes. Finally, the system selects at least one of the available communication paths for transmitting each of the data types by matching the desired quality of service characteristics to the available communication paths.

A resource provider initiates the process by sending an application to a resource allocator requesting to be added to the resource allocator's list of providers. The resource allocator accepts or rejects a particular resource provider based on the application. If accepted, the resource provider waits for a task from the resource allocator. Upon receiving a task, the resource provider evaluates the currently available local resources. The resource provider determines whether or not it is currently able to handle the task in view of the available local resources. If the resource provider is able to handle the task, it accepts the task. The resource provider processes the task and returns the results to either the resource allocator or the original resource requester.

Abstract: A program that can be launched during a browsing session logs protocol calls and stores time-stamped copies of those calls to a call list file. Calls that result in errors returned from the remote server or proxy are flagged, and may optionally be retained, or automatically or manually deleted. The program also creates a map file so as to keep information needed to associate a protocol call to the file or files downloaded in response to the protocol call. Filtering and tagging of downloaded files can optionally be performed to assist in the manual or automatic determination of whether to include the downloaded file(s) in a session file. Entries in the session file may be annotated with text, audio, video or various combinations of these and other media. The session file can be communicated to one or more users remote temporally, geographically, or both. The session file provides protocol calls to a user's local browser thus replaying the recorded browsing session as edited or annotated.
