Abstract: Embodiments are described for a comprehensive and real-time document sharing, editing, analyzing, coding, and processing platform using online databases. The system includes a data storage and retrieval process as well as a graphical user interface (GUI) component that displays small graphical representations of documents or file elements, referred to as “thumbnail” images to provide a quick recognizable reference to a document, as well as a link to the document or file itself. User access control determines whether a searching user can access a document based on the user role and context of the document. A real-time collaboration component allows various disparate users to access the same document and simultaneously make notes and changes as well as see other notes and changes made by other users.
