  • Patent number: 9592633
Abstract: The present invention is a method for seaming a polymeric material. The method involves forming an interface between a plurality of separate polymeric sheets of materials. Next, heat and pressure are applied to facilitate the diffusion of the polymer molecules at the interface. A diffusion weld is made when the polymer molecules diffuse across the interface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 22, 2011
Date of Patent: March 14, 2017
    Assignee: NeXolve Corporation
Inventors: Gregory Laue, William Clayton, Mark Johnson, Timothy Wright, Kevin Melton, Garrett Poe

  • Patent number: 7875820
Abstract: A switching device includes a housing having an exterior surface with at least one opening in the surface. An inner edge of the opening is for receiving and securing solid bodies. At least a portion of the inner edge of the opening includes an integral weld tab which is raised above a level of the exterior surface. A sensing body includes a sensing structure operable to sense at least one condition. The sensing body has an outer surface that is disposed partially within the housing and secured to the edge of the opening by the weld tab, wherein the weld tab provides weld material physically bonding the outer surface of the sensing body to the housing.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 7641758
Abstract: The present invention is a method for seaming a polyimide material. The method involves forming an interface between multiple the polyimide materials. Next, heat is applied to the interface to soften the polyimide material. The temperature of the heat source is below the melting point of the polyimide material. Finally, pressure is applied to the interface to create a seam between the polyimide materials.

  • Publication number: 20090009898
Abstract: A thin film reflector with a compliant border has been developed. The thin film reflector includes a reflective membrane and a support apparatus that applies a tensile force to the reflective membrane. A compliant border region is located between the reflective membrane and the support apparatus to distribute the tensile forces applied by the support apparatus evenly across the reflective membrane.
