  • Patent number: 4928028
Abstract: A direct current linear drive actuator including first and second electromagnets, each having a cup-shaped ferromagnetic stator core with an axially extending concentric annular main pole member on the centerline thereof. First and second independent stator coils are recieved within the annular recesses of the stator cores. The open ends of the stator cores face one another with a washer-shaped ferromagnetic common pole member, positioned intermediate the open ends in perpendicular relation to the stator main poles. The armature is spring biased to a neutral position and includes a disc-shaped permanent magnet configured for being received within the inner opening of the common pole and is sandwiched between first and second disc-shaped pole members, each having an overall configuration sufficient to overlap the perimeter of the common pole in the radial direction. Air gaps are formed between the stator poles and the armature poles.

  • Patent number: 4837497
Abstract: A variable transformer, reactor having a core combining at least two complete core elements wiht a common yoke; primary winding divided into two independently fed sets of phase coils wound in opposite direction, arranged on symmetrical legs of core elements and separated by the common yoke; secondary winding with each phase coil divided into two wound in opposite direction portions carried by symmetrical core legs, adjacent to the primary coils and separated by common yoke. The secondary short-circuited reactor winding is reduced to at least one close loop member with loop portions separated by the common yoke. The single, polyphase apparatus has at least one primary coil per set that includes a controllable device in circuit relation therewith to enable control of one primary coil relative to the other, either in current magntidue or in current phase shift. The controllable device being either a silicon control rectifier, triac or transistor.

  • Patent number: 4761602
Abstract: An induction machine having a stator carrying phase coils divided into at least two independently fed sets of coils, with a rotor or armature carrying one or more loop members, each of which is a short-circuited, continuous isolated loop conductor member having elements thereof positioned and received within the slots of the armature in a generally serpentine configuration forming at least two open loop portions, each loop portion being in a spatially related position to a corresponding coil of the stator structure, with each conductor element within a slot phasing or linking the fluxes of one stator pole. The machine may be single phase or polyphase. At least one stator phase coil of a set includes a controllable device in circuit relation therewith to enable control of one stator coil relative to the other, either in current magnitude or in current phase shift, the controllable device being either a silicon controlled rectifier or a triac.
