Patent number: 11854333Abstract: Existing currency validation (CVAL) devices, systems, and methods are too slow, costly, intrusive, and/or bulky to be routinely used in common transaction locations (e.g., at checkout, at an automatic teller machine, etc.). Presented herein are devices, systems, and methods to facilitate optical validation of documents, merchandise, or currency at common transaction locations and to do so in an obtrusive and convenient way. More specifically, the present invention embraces a validation device that may be used alone or integrated within a larger system (e.g., point of sale system, kiosk, etc.). The present invention also embraces methods for currency validation using the validation device, as well as methods for improving the quality and consistency of data captured by the validation device for validation.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2021Date of Patent: December 26, 2023Assignee: Hand Held Products, Inc.Inventors: Erik Van Horn, Gennady Germaine, Christopher Allen, David J. Ryder, Paul Poloniewicz, Kevin Saber, Sean Philip Kearney, Edward Hatton, Edward C. Bremer, Michael Vincent Miraglia, Robert Pierce, William Ross Rapoport, James Vincent Guiheen, Chirag Patel, Patrick Anthony Giordano, Timothy Good, Gregory M. Rueblinger

Publication number: 20230279694Abstract: A latch assembly for housing cover is provided. Latch assembly has switch, latch, elastic clamp, and pushbutton. Switch is disposed on first side of cover. Switch is slidable in first direction to unlocked position for unlocking latch assembly and slidable in second direction to locked position for locking latch assembly. Latch has projection for engaging and disengaging with latch slot in housing for releasably latching cover to housing. Elastic clamp has detent portion for releasable engagement with notch in second side of cover. Latch and elastic clamp are disposed on second side of cover opposite switch and coupled to switch. Pushbutton extends through aligned openings in switch, latch, and portion of elastic clamp. Latch assembly is unlocked by depressing pushbutton to impinge on elastic clamp portion, thereby disengaging detent portion from notch and by simultaneously moving the switch in the first direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2023Publication date: September 7, 2023Inventors: Yanqing ZHANG, Yuefeng MO, Kevin SABER, Gregory M. RUEBLINGER

Patent number: 6964329Abstract: A step down product conveying and accumulation system employs one or more conveyors with a product path section, on which products are conveyed, and an accumulator section, for accumulation of products for recirculation and eventual delivery to a downstream destination. A length of the product path section is located within a first transverse plane. The accumulator section is located within a second transverse plane, in spaced apart relation with the product path section. A transfer surface in the form of a slide plate, air slide plenum system, or other low resistance or frictionless surface is employed as the transfer medium.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2004Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Assignee: Garvey CorporationInventors: Vincent DiBianca, William J.
