  • Patent number: 11027440
Abstract: A self-retracting knife includes a housing having a forward end defining a blade aperture, and a blade carrier supports a removable knife blade and is movable within the housing from a fully extended position with the blade projecting from the blade aperture and a fully retracted position by a tension spring. An anti-retraction latch member is supported by the housing and is movable with finger pressure to a position that stops the blade carrier from fully retracting so that the knife blade is partially extended through the blade aperture. In other embodiments, the blade carrier extends through a carrier aperture at the opposite end of the housing for extending the blade carrier, and an adjustable extension limiter also extends through the carrier aperture for limiting forward movement of the blade carrier and projection of the blade through the blade aperture.

  • Patent number: 9506271
Abstract: A frame is supported for vertical movement by a vehicle and has an inclined shaft supporting a roll of silt fence material. The frame also supports a vertical plow plate having a forward edge surface and an inclined rearward edge surface spaced adjacent an inclined foldover member to define a narrow gap which receives fence material directly from the roll. The plow supports a removable, flexible and resilient panel which projects rearwardly to extend within a slit formed in the ground by the plow plate to prevent debris from snagging the material. The inclined shaft is adjustable vertically, and the roll is adjustable axially on the shaft to maintain an edge of the fence material adjacent the bottom of the plow plate. The frame may also support a rotatable and vertically movable boom from which depends an impact hammer for installing stakes in the ground adjacent the fence.

  • Patent number: 8974665
Abstract: A welded wire mesh is rolled into an elongated tubular wire frame, and sizing rings surround the tubular wire frame to maintain the tubular frame with a predetermined diameter. The wire frame is partially covered with a sediment filter fabric attached by wire clips, and an end portion of the tubular frame is inserted into an inlet portion of an installed storm water pipe. A collar member includes a wire collar frame secured to the tubular wire frame and is covered by a flexible filter material to filter storm water flowing between the tubular frame and the water pipe and to form a stop which prevents the tubular frame from moving further into the pipe. A top portion of the tubular wire frame is uncovered by filter fabric to define an overflow opening for storm water with very light sediment to flow into the storm water pipe.

  • Patent number: 8679329
Abstract: A filter system for a storm water sewer includes a flat mount frame with inwardly projecting support wires and seats on an internal ledge of a grate frame supporting a removable grate. A fabricated circular wire basket has welded cross wires defining openings in side and bottom walls and is lined with a porous filter fabric for collecting silt within storm water flowing through openings in the grate. The wire basket has upwardly projecting bent wire portions hooked onto the support wires of the mount frame and define overflow passages and handle openings for removing the mount frame and the basket after the grate is removed. A smaller and lined lift-out wire basket is supported within a lower portion of the wire basket attached to the mount frame, and each wire basket may be compressed laterally into an oval configuration for use with a rectangular mount frame.

  • Patent number: 7296636
Abstract: A post driver unit includes a frame having a quick connect attachment to a front end loader vehicle in place of a bucket or for connecting the unit to a tractor using a three point hitch. The frame supports a vertical mast for rotation on a vertical axis by fluid actuated cylinder, and the mast supports an elongated boom for pivotal movement on a horizontal axis. A fluid actuated impact driver depends directly from an outer end portion of the boom by a universally supported connector member to provide the impact driver with a vertical axis, and the boom is pivoted by a fluid actuated cylinder system which provides for rapidly raising the boom and the impact driver and lowering the boom and impact driver at a controlled slower rate. The connector member may have different lengths according to the length of the post to be driven.

  • Patent number: 6796747
Abstract: A tractor carries a vertically adjustable frame supporting a horizontal shaft for a supply roll of silt fence fabric. A vertical plow blade is mounted on the frame, and a vertical fin is supported directly behind the plow blade by a horizontal fabric guide bar attached to the frame. The fin receives an intermediate portion of the fabric directed around the guide bar for folding an edge portion of the fabric into a slot formed within the ground by the plow blade. The frame also supports a hydraulically actuated stake driver rearwardly of the supply roll and directly above the folded edge portion of the fabric. In one form, the stake driver comprises a vertically sliding ram having wide steps for receiving different length stakes. In another form, the stake driver comprises an impact hammer attached to a vertically and horizontally adjustable boom carried by the frame.

  • Patent number: 6517294
Abstract: A tractor carries a vertically adjustable frame supporting a horizontal shaft for a supply roll of silt fence fabric. A flat vertical plow blade is mounted on the frame and has a front surface and a rear surface. A thinner flat vertical fin is supported directly behind the plow blade by a horizontal fabric guide bar attached to the frame. The fin has a downwardly and rearwardly curved front surface for receiving an intermediate portion of the fabric directed around the guide bar and for folding an edge portion of the fabric into the slot formed by the plow blade. After the ground is compacted by a tractor wheel, wood stakes are driven into the ground by a hydraulically actuated cylinder device mounted on a side of the tractor frame between the front and rear wheels, and the fabric is attached to the stakes.
