Abstract: One variation of a method for detecting a cyber attack includes: recording representations of network events occurring on a network over a period of time to a network accounting log; writing metadata values of network events in the accounting log to a compressed log file; in response to receipt of a new threat intelligence representing a newly-identified security threat identified after the period of time, querying the compressed log file for a set of metadata values of a threat element defined in the new threat intelligence; in response to detecting the set of metadata values of the threat element in the compressed log file, querying the network accounting log for a set of threat elements defined in the new threat intelligence; and in response to detecting the set of threat elements in the network accounting log, issuing an alert to respond to the newly-identified security threat on the network.

Abstract: Various aspects and embodiments of automation in tenancy transitions are described. Among other aspects or features of the embodiments, a computing device in an automation or gateway hub receives and stores automation settings from an automation management service environment over time. The automation settings can include different settings for various states of occupancy of a rental unit or dwelling. For example, the automation settings can include a first set of tenant-defined automation settings, which can be defined by a tenant while the dwelling is occupied by the tenant, and a second set of property-manger-defined vacancy automation settings for use after the tenant vacates the dwelling. The automation or gateway hub can determine whether a transition in tenancy has occurred for the dwelling (e.g., when the tenant moves out) and, in response to the transition, load the vacancy automation settings into one or more home automation devices of the dwelling.

In particular, disclosed are methods and systems for batch-type production of a gas from a combustible material. The methods and systems include igniting at least a portion of the combustible material loaded in the sealed containment structure to form a thermally affected layer, wherein the step of feeding the oxidant into the sealed containment structure is carried out so that conversion of the combustible material to a gas at one point in the sequence is initiated prior to complete conversion of the combustible material at a previous point in the sequence.
