  • Patent number: 7718941
Abstract: A directional alignment and alignment monitoring sensor system that is designed to be mounted to a directional or omni-directional antenna wherein the system includes a sensor having one or more phototransistors that are associated with one or more baffle members and wherein each baffle member defines a restrictive light passageway toward a phototransistor such the by measuring the time that a phototransistor is illuminated, a correct orientation of the antenna may be accurately determined.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 9, 2008
Date of Patent: May 18, 2010
    Assignee: Sunsight Holdings, LLC
Inventors: Robert Wayne Austin, Gregory A. Mercier, Bruce Weddendorf
  • Publication number: 20090021447
Abstract: A tool and method for aligning directional antennas quickly and accurately in azimuth, tilt and roll. The tool includes a housing, mounting brackets for securing the tool to an antenna, a data storage device including predetermined alignment information, a GPS system for measuring azimuth, and inclinometers for measuring tilt and roll. The tool also includes displays for displaying the measured values of the azimuth, tilt, and roll relative to the predetermined parameters. As a result, a user can easily align an antennas based on the azimuth, tilt, and roll information measured and displayed by the tool.

  • Publication number: 20080030066
Abstract: A cutting bit includes a body having a front surface and a side surface, the side surface including a shoulder below the front surface and extending substantially perpendicular to a central axis of the body, and a ring that is harder than the body attached to the body at a front surface of the shoulder. Wear life of the cutting bit is enhanced by maintaining particular dimensional relationships regarding the position of the ring on the body, and the diameter of portions of the body.

  • Publication number: 20080012750
Abstract: Alignment monitoring systems for directional and omni-directional antennas that are mounted to the antennas and which include solar sensors that are mounted with enclosing housings such that solar imaging across the surface of one or more sensing elements is used to determine a current alignment of the antennas in at least in one of headings, or azimuths of the antennas, or tilt angles thereof relative to a horizontal plane, and wherein signals generated by the sensing elements are communicated to data processing units.
