  • Patent number: 12400532
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system for detecting an object in an environment. The apparatus comprises: a processor configured to: control an active reflected wave detector to measure wave reflections from the environment to accrue measured wave reflection data; process the measured wave reflection data to detect an object in said environment; in response to detection of said object, determine whether a first predetermined condition in respect of the object is met; and if the first predetermined condition is met, control an output device to output a deterrent.

  • Publication number: 20250182609
Abstract: A monitoring system is disclosed comprises a passive infrared, PIR, detector configured for detecting motion in an environment and an active reflected wave detector arranged to measure wave reflections from a region of interest in the environment. The active reflected wave detector is operable responsive to detection of motion by the PIR detector. The system is configured to adjust at least one parameter of the PIR detector responsive to the output of the active reflected wave detector meeting one or more criteria. A method, controller and computer program product are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20240203222
Abstract: One embodiment relates to an apparatus for detecting an object in an environment, the apparatus comprising: a camera controllable to switch from a first to a second mode to prepare the camera to capture an image; a processor, wherein the processor is arranged to receive motion detection data associated with a first monitoring region in said environment, and measured wave reflection data associated with a second monitoring region obtained by an active reflected wave detector, wherein the first monitoring region includes at least part of the second monitoring region and extends beyond the second monitoring region in at least one direction. In response to the processor detecting motion in the first monitoring region, the processor is configured to: activate the active reflected wave detector; determine whether a predetermined condition is met; if the condition is met, perform at least one operation related to camera image data.

  • Publication number: 20230237889
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system for detecting an object in an environment. The apparatus comprises: a processor, the processor coupled to an active reflected wave detector that is operable to measure wave reflections from the environment. The processor is configured to: process measured wave reflection data to determine whether a predetermined condition is met, the measured wave reflection data accrued by the processor in response to the active reflected wave detector being activated in response to a motion sensor detecting motion in said environment; and if the predetermined condition is met, perform at least one operation related to camera image data.
