Abstract: A backpack includes a bag portion and only one shoulder strap connected to the bag portion at a first end. The backpack also includes left and right side straps wherein each side strap is connected to the bag portion also at a first end. The only one shoulder strap and the left and right side straps are each connected to a central member at second ends and wherein at least one of the side straps is detachably attached to the central member.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for fusion of recognition results from multiple types of data sources. In one embodiment, the inventive method implementing a first processing technique to recognize at least a portion of terms contained in a first media source, implementing a second processing technique to recognize at least a portion of terms contained in a second media source that contains a different type of data than that contained in the first media source, and adapting the first processing technique based at least in part on results generated by the second processing technique.

Abstract: An apparatus and a concomitant method for portably detecting and recognizing text information in a captured imagery. The present invention is a portable device that is capable of capturing imagery and is also capable of detecting and extracting text information from the captured imagery. The portable device contains an image capturing sensor, a text detection module, an OCR module, a storage device and means for presenting the output to the user or other devices.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for capturing paper-based information on a mobile computing device. In one embodiment, the inventive method includes capturing a digital image of the paper-based information, where the digital image comprises text (and in some cases non-text) components of the paper-based information. At least a portion of the paper-based information is then categorized based on the content of the text components and stored accordingly in either a local or remote database.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatus for delivering a physical item such that an indirect address code (IAC) (102) is added to a physical item (112), subsequently evaluated into a deliverable address (118), and associated to the item to enable in delivery of the item. An efficient and secure method of delivery of a physical item is thereby achieved.
