  • Patent number: 6569098
Abstract: A system for determining displacement of an osseous target underlaying soft tissue assists in the diagnosis of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The system includes an ultrasonic transducer/indenter which is used to compress the target tissue while concurrently obtaining ultrasound data. The displacement of the osseous target is determined by subtracting soft tissue compression from the overall displacement of the transducer/indenter. The transducer/indenter may be mechanically actuated or manually actuated.
