    Abstract: A barrier system for platform lifts to prevent access to an opening once the platform lift is lower than the floor. The system includes a platform lift configured to move in a housing. At least one upright member is receivable in the housing, and is moveable in an up and down direction. A lever is disposed in the housing in a manner in which it will engage with the platform lift as it moves into the housing. The movement of the lever because of this engagement moves the upright member out of the housing to create a barrier.
