    Abstract: A process for making a silicon carbide foam structural material utilizing continuous and non-continuous processes where bead members are mixed with silicon powder-carbon powder and molded into a shape. The bead members are then removed by melting. The remaining silicon powder-carbon powder structure, having been formed with a plurality of apertures therein from where the beads have been removed, is further heated to a point sufficient to form a silicon carbide structure retaining such plurality of apertures to create a silicon carbide foam.
