  • Patent number: 11458289
Abstract: An applicator and method for applying a microneedle array to skin. The applicator can include a body having a first portion and a second portion defining a cavity, the second portion having a slot presented on an outside surface for insertion of the microneedle array into the cavity. The first portion and the second portion are slidable relative to one other along an axis enabling the body to be in an unprimed configuration and a primed configuration. The applicator further includes a door operable with the second portion, the door being movable from a first door position to a second door position, wherein when the device is in the unprimed configuration, the door at least partially obstructs the slot and access into the cavity. When the device is in the primed configuration, the door does not obstruct the slots and enables access into the cavity.

  • Publication number: 20220241571
Abstract: A microarray carrier (200) for use with a microarray applicator (100) is provided. The microarray carrier (200) includes a body (202) defining a cavity (210). The microarray carrier (200) also includes a plurality of tabs (220, 222, 224, 226) disposed on the body (202) and extending into the cavity (210). Each of the plurality of tabs (220, 222, 224, 226) defines a contour line along a length thereof extending from a proximal end of the tab adjacent the body to a support surface (228, 230, 232, 234) spaced apart from the body. The support surface (228, 230, 232, 234) is inclined with respect to the contour line where the contour line intersects the support surface (228, 230, 232, 234). A projected area of each of the plurality of tabs (220, 222, 224, 226) onto a horizontal plane (HP) of the cavity (210) is greater than an area of the support surface (228, 230, 232, 234). The support surface (228, 230, 232, 234) is aligned non-perpendicular to the horizontal plane (HP).

  • Patent number: 8209035
Abstract: A lead having an extendable and retractable fixation mechanism has a rotating terminal pin at the terminal end which rotates the fixation mechanism at the distal end. As the terminal pin is rotated, the fixation mechanism is extended or retracted from the distal end of the lead. A threaded collar allows for the fixation mechanism to smoothly extend and retract from the lead, and allows for a 1:1 turn ratio between the terminal pin and the fixation mechanism. A fluoroscopic ring disposed at the distal end of the lead provides information during the implantation process.

  • Patent number: 7089046
Abstract: A helical element for insertion into tissue comprises a helical element having an insertion end, a protruding end and an open central area within the wire, rods, filaments, cables or the like that form the helix. The helical element has at least its insertion end covered by a cap of a water-soluble or water-dispersible composition. The cap is provided with a surface shape in a cross-section in which surface variations are present in the cross-section which create a surface orientation where a line from the center of the cross-section can intersect the surface, and a line perpendicular to said radius at a point of intersection with said surface forms four quadrants, three of said quadrants containing water-soluble or water-dispersible cap material. There is either a hollow area within the composition within the open central area or the material is more porous than the remaining material.
