  • Publication number: 20180117288
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a drainage catheter and methods of use for providing improved catheterization procedures, such as during a percutaneous nephrostomy. The drainage catheter includes a body comprising a first tube segment and a second tube segment connected to one another at a curved end portion to form a continuous body structure. An inner surface of the curved end portion includes one or more drainage openings extending therethrough, with an outer surface of the curved end portion free of drainage openings to minimize potential clogging. The openings are in communication with a lumen that extends through the drainage catheter to provide a pathway for removing fluid from the kidney. The drainage catheter is inserted into the kidney via a first insertion site and exits via a second insertion site to minimize the potential for accidental removal of the catheter.

  • Patent number: 9751056
Abstract: A movable mixing disc may be utilized in connection with a syringe. The mixing disc may comprise a hole which may be covered by a fine screen or coupled to a porous member, allowing only certain elements of a solution to pass through the mixing disc. Actuation of a plunger of the syringe may cause liquid to emerge from the mixing disc hole as a high velocity jet or other turbulent flow, stirring up any settled particles on a distal side of the mixing disc. As the ejection continues, the mixing disc may be pushed forward by the plunger in order to eliminate any unused volume. Also, the mixing disc may be moved forward by virtue of a pressure difference created by a pressure drop across the mixing disc, such as a pressure drop created as the plunger is displaced to induce fluid flow across the mixing disc.

  • Patent number: 9743934
Abstract: A radial artery compression device configured to be secured to a wrist or other portion of a patient to provide adjustable and consistent compression pressure in the area of a radial artery access site or other physiological portion of a patient to achieve hemostasis either during or after a medical procedure such as a percutaneous coronary procedure. The radial artery compression device includes a rotatable member and a compression pad adapted such that rotation of the rotatable member does not affect the rotational orientation of the compression pad. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a single rotation of the rotatable member results in complete extension or retraction of the radial artery compression device. According to another embodiment of the present invention, the rotation of the rotatable member results in a compounding of the extension or retraction of the compression pad relative to the body of the radial artery compression device.

  • Publication number: 20170209648
Abstract: Coverings for syringe plunger tips, as well as syringes and syringe components including such coverings, are disclosed. A material of the covering may have at least one different material property than a material of the plunger tip. The coverings may provide a reduced coefficient of friction between the covering and a surface of the syringe relative to the coefficient of friction between the plunger tip and the syringe surface. The coverings may also isolate a substance loaded in the syringe from the plunger tip. Methods for manufacturing a syringe assembly including such coverings, as well as methods for isolating a substance in a syringe from a syringe component, are also disclosed.
