  • Publication number: 20050134551
Abstract: An electric display system includes electric display material having two opposing outer surfaces, wherein at least one of the outer surfaces is at least partially covered in a plurality of spaced apart, charge-retaining islands comprised of a conductive material with areas of the insulating material interposed therebetween. A charge transfer device is arranged in operative association with the display material, having a first component made of a flexible, non-conductive material and a plurality of individually adjustable conductive elements, wherein movement of one adjustable conductive element does not result in movement of another adjustable conductive element.

  • Publication number: 20050134552
Abstract: An exemplary embodiment for an electric paper application is provided. The embodiment utilizes a disordered percolation layer for forming conductive islands on electric paper. The percolation layer is comprised of a disordered mixture of conductive and non-conductive particles that are attached to a non-conductive surface to provide conductive islands therein so that the electric charge can be appropriately held near the media plane of the electric paper.

  • Publication number: 20050136244
Abstract: The present exemplary embodiment relates to the use of electronic display materials for electric paper applications. It utilizes an elastomeric ground plane to render electric paper applications more flexible than has been heretofore realized. In other forms, all layers of the electric paper are formed with elastomeric material to provide further flexibility and stretchability.

  • Publication number: 20050134550
Abstract: An electronic display includes an electronic display material having two opposing outer surfaces, wherein at least one of the outer surfaces is at least partially covered in a plurality of spaced-apart charge-retaining islands comprised of a conductive material with areas of insulating material interposed therebetween. A charge transfer device is arranged in operative association with the display material, and includes a first component made of a pliable, nonconductive material and at least one conductive portion, and a second component configured to support the first component. Alternatively, a charge transfer device is configured to transfer an electric charge to charge-retaining islands of an electric display, where the charge-retaining islands are on a surface of the electric display and are spaced apart with areas of insulating material interspersed therebetween.
