  • Publication number: 20120185407
Abstract: Financial advisory methods and systems for creating a steady lifetime income stream within an investment plan is provided. According to one embodiment, based on an investor's current holdings in the investment plan, a pattern of periodic cash payouts is identified that can be made to the investor from an in-plan payout program implemented with the limited universe of financial products available within the investment plan. The assets of the investment plan are rebalanced to form a payout portfolio and an equity exposure portfolio. The payout portfolio is constructed to create an annuity-like stream of income to support the pattern of periodic cash payouts and includes multiple bond funds. The equity exposure portfolio is constructed to address inflation risk by providing an ability to rise with equities markets. Finally, a periodic cash payout of the pattern of periodic cash payouts is caused to be paid to the investor from the investment plan.

  • Publication number: 20090202961
Abstract: An ultrasonic dental insert having at least one light source. A first transducer generates ultrasonic vibrations. A connecting body has a proximal end and a distal end having a tip attached thereto. The proximal end is attached to the first transducer so as to receive the ultrasonic vibrations therefrom and to transmit the ultrasonic vibrations toward the tip attached to the distal end. A second transducer is disposed substantially proximate to the connecting body for generating a voltage signal in response to movement of a portion of the connecting body according to the ultrasonic vibrations. A magnetic material including a source of a magnetic field is present in close proximity to the insert. At least one light source substantially proximate or distal to the tip is connected to and receives the voltage signal from the second transducer to generate light.

  • Publication number: 20080064006
Abstract: The present invention relates to ultrasonic dental tools having an integral sheath and at least one light source adapted to utilize the electromagnetic energy already available in the existing ultrasonic dental unit. The handpiece includes a substantially hollow housing having a primary power source that may include a coil. In one aspect, the ultrasonic dental insert includes a sheath. The sheath may be formed such that it may cover at least part of the handpiece housing. In general, the sheath may serve as a barrier such that it may reduce cross-contamination to and from the patient's mouth. During operation, the primary coil of the handpiece may be inductively coupled to an illumination energy coil such that the illumination energy coil may draw energy from the electromagnetic field of the primary coil to power at least one light emitting element.

  • Publication number: 20070236018
Abstract: Mating air ducts may be joined to each other via an integrally formed protrusion on male air duct and an integrally formed groove on a female air duct for effecting linear and angular alignment of the mating air ducts. The integrally formed protrusion and groove may be formed on the air ducts via a process known as selective laser sintering or stereo lithography. Further, more than one groove and protrusion may be formed on the air ducts in an uneven manner such that the protrusions fit within the grooves in only one angular orientation. The protrusion may be a nub or a thread. Also, the groove may be a channel aligned to a central axis of the female air duct or a helical groove. The male air duct is linearly aligned and/or angularly aligned to the female air duct when the protrusion engages a distal portion of the groove or an abrupt change of the groove.

  • Publication number: 20070085241
Abstract: A manufacturing method is provided for enhancing density of a three-dimensional object defining at least one or more substantially flat surfaces. The method comprises the steps of: (a) applying a layer of powder at a target plane; (b) completely melting selected locations of the layer corresponding to a cross sectional slice of the object, the cross sectional slice defining a portion of the flat surface; and (c) repeating steps (a) and (b) to create successive layers to form the flat surface of the object in layerwise fashion, wherein at least one flat surface is oriented at an angle with respect to the target plane to mitigate against “burn through,” warping, and “swelling” of the object. The complete melting of the powder and the orientation of the flat surface tend to provide dimensional accuracy, homogenous microstructure, and enhanced strength characteristics for the object.

  • Publication number: 20070051704
Abstract: A method of assembling a first part and a second part. The method may comprise the step of integrally forming an attachment device and a first part. For example, the attachment device may be a nut plate operative to retain a nut therein, and the first part may be an air duct. The nut plate and the air duct may be integrally formed via selective laser sintering or stereo lithography such that the nut plate is an integral feature of the air duct. A nut may be retained in the nut plate, and a mating bolt may engage the nut to attach the air duct (i.e., the first part) to the second part.

  • Publication number: 20060270012
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing (2R,3S)-1-halo-2-hydroxy-3-(protected)amino-4-substituted butane comprising contacting a mutagenized Rhodococcus erythropolis having ATCC deposit no. PTA-6648 with (3S)-1-halo-2-oxo-3-(protected)amino-4-substituted butane substrate. The present invention also relates to a process comprising mixing (2R,3S)-1-halo-2-hydroxy-3-(protected)amino-4-substituted butane with at least one base in the presence of at least one solvent to produce a reaction mixture containing (2R,3S)-1,2-epoxy-3-(protected)amino-4-substituted butane. The present invention further relates to a process comprising crystallizing the (2R,3S)-1,2-epoxy-3-(protected)amino-4-substituted butane out of the reaction mixture by concurrently adding water and the reaction mixture together. The present invention is also directed to a mutagenized Rhodococcus erythropolis having ATCC deposit no. PTA-6648.
