  • Patent number: 11760889
Abstract: Sulfate and sulfonate derivatives of unsaturated fatty alcohols, processes for making them, and methods of using them are disclosed. In one aspect, a monounsaturated fatty alcohol composition is made by reducing a metathesis-derived monounsaturated alkyl ester. The fatty alcohol composition is then converted to a sulfate or sulfonate derivative by one or more of alkoxylation, sulfation, sulfonation, and sulfitation. Of particular interest are the sulfate and ether sulfate derivatives. Microscopy studies indicate that the unsaturated sodium sulfates in particular have a lamellar phase that should enable formulation at high actives levels. Sulfate compositions comprising 40 to 60 wt. % of a monounsaturated fatty primary alcohol sulfate and 40 to 60 wt. % of a secondary hydroxyalkyl primary alcohol sulfate are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10814605
Abstract: Described herein are embodiments of compositions and methods relating to three-dimensional (3D) printing. Some embodiments are directed to a composition comprising a polymer with one or more dormant functional groups. According to some embodiments, the polymer may be formed through a controlled radical polymerization method. Some embodiments are directed to a composition comprising a polymer with one or more pendent crosslinkable groups. In some cases, the composition may be used as an “ink” for 3D printing. For example, the composition may be injected into a medium. The composition and/or medium may, in some embodiments, further comprise an initiator and/or a crosslinker. After injection of the composition into the medium, the one or more dormant functional groups and/or one or more pendent crosslinkable groups may be activated, and the polymer may be crosslinked. In certain cases, the crosslinked polymer may be removed from the medium to produce a freestanding three-dimensional structure.

  • Patent number: 10338231
Abstract: A hardware front-end for a software-defined GNSS receiver, which includes an antenna connected to a transmission line that is connected to a pair of separate circuits, one for receiving L1 signals and one for receiving L2 signals. Each circuit includes at least one bandpass filter, at least one LNA, and a single-chip GNSS receiver that receives analog RF signals and provides digitized I and Q signals. The pair of circuits differ in that a first one is designed to receive, filter, and amplify RF signals at the L1 frequency corresponding to the designed input frequency of the receiver and the second one is designed to receive, filter, and amplify RF signals at the L2 frequency, which is significantly different from the first frequency. The second circuit also includes a mixer to convert the L2 frequency to the L1 frequency, so that a similar receiver can be used in each circuit.

  • Patent number: 10322994
Abstract: Fatty amide compositions and their derivatives are disclosed. The fatty amides comprise a reaction product of a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives with a primary or secondary amine. Derivatives made by reducing, quaternizing, sulfonating, alkoxylating, sulfating, and sulfitating the fatty amide are also included. The amine reactant can be diethylenetriamine or (2-aminoethyl)ethanolamine, which provide imidazoline amides or esters, respectively. In one aspect, the ester derivative of the C10-C17 monounsaturated acid or octadecene-1,18-dioic acid is a lower alkyl ester. In other aspects, the ester derivative is a modified triglyceride made by self-metathesis of a natural oil or an unsaturated triglyceride made by cross-metathesis of a natural oil with an olefin. The compositions are valuable for cleaners, fabric treatment, hair conditioning, personal care, antimicrobial compositions, agricultural uses, and oil field applications.
