  • Publication number: 20160309832
Abstract: A shoe cover for protecting a user's footwear. The shoe cover includes a body that resembles a shoe and that is configured to partially enclose a shoe therein. The shoe cover includes a toe portion, a heel portion, and an ankle opening. The ankle opening includes an elastic band therearound for securement around the user's ankle so as to protect the upper end of the shoe. The shoe cover includes a partially open sole, wherein a front portion of the sole is closed and the heel portion of the sole is open. The heel portion further includes an elastic band therearound for securement to the lower portion of the user's shoe. Additionally, a pair of mating fasteners is provided on opposing sides of the sole for further securing the shoe cover in position over the shoe.

  • Patent number: 9228980
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments generally relate to non-destructive evaluation methods. In an embodiment, a method for non-destructive evaluation of a aerospace component includes positioning a first plurality of sensors in the region of interest, positioning a second plurality of sensors in the region of interest, inducing a vibration in the region of interest using the first plurality of sensors and receiving a resonance frequency spectra using the second plurality of sensors, and comparing the received resonance frequency spectra against a reference spectra to determine the presence of an anomaly in the region of interest.

  • Patent number: 7607832
Abstract: Embodiments provide apparatus for medical imaging which includes: a base assembly including a set of wheels for rolling movement on a floor to transport the base assembly between locations; an imaging assembly for imaging the subject; and a movable support assembly connected between the base assembly and the imaging assembly for supporting the imaging assembly on the base assembly and for extending and retracting the imaging assembly from the base assembly. Embodiments provide apparatus for medical imaging wherein overall length of the apparatus with the imaging assembly extended exceeds overall length with the imaging assembly retracted.

  • Patent number: 5341103
Abstract: Apparatus for simultaneously generating and measuring a triboelectric charge generated on a strip of flexible sample material includes a stationary rod of insulating material, driving motor for the sample material adapted to move the sample material in frictional contact with the rod, a support rod for maintaining a surface of the sample material in straight-line tangential relationship with the rod, and a static-charge sensor disposed between the stationary rod and the support rod and spaced from the surface of the sample material for measuring a charge on the surface in cooperation with a voltage-measuring device.

  • Patent number: 4959069
Abstract: A braided surgical suture is provided which in a first embodiment is woven in a spiral braid. The suture is braided by moving thread carriers from position to position around a circular path. As each carrier moves it moves from its present position to a succeeding position which is at least two positions removed from its present position. Such spiral braided sutures are advantageously produced without core filaments, providing benefits in strength, smoothness, pliability and cylindrical uniformity without the discontinuity of properties characteristic of conventionally braided cored sutures. In a second embodiment the suture is woven in a lattice braid, providing a plurality of distributed core passageways for individual core fibers.

  • Patent number: 4510879
Abstract: A rudder blade means of the type designed to reduce the drag produced by rudder blades of conventional design. The novel design, having utility in any vessel that travels through a fluid medium and incorporates a substantially vertically aligned chamber formed internally of the rudder body. The chamber has a narrow, slot-like portion that is in open communication with the trailing edge of the rudder body, and an enlarged, bore-like portion remote from said trailing edge but in open communication with the innermost portion of said slot-like portion. In applications where the rudder body is mounted to a sea-going vessel, and wherein such rudder body has a submerged portion and an un-submerged portion, water enters the chamber, in a counterswirling pattern, through the slot-like portion, and is driven upwardly, by water pressure, through the bore-like portion and is expelled above the water line through the uppermost region of said slot-like portion of such chamber.
