  • Patent number: 10519206
Abstract: The technology provided herein generally relates relates to genetically modified higher plants, for example C3 and C4 plants, and subsequent generations thereof, comprising stable and/or transient expression of at least one gene-product (e.g. mRNA or protein) of the “Chlamydomonas reinhardtii CO2 concentrating mechanism” (CCM), wherein the expression takes place in the intermembrane space and/or one or more subcellular compartments of the chloroplasts of the higher plant, and wherein this expression increases one or more of the characteristics selected from the group of photosynthetic rate, photosynthetic carbon fixation, chlorophyll level and/or biomass of the genetically modified higher plant (T0) and/or of the T1 and/or T2 generation or any subsequent plant generation of said genetically modified higher plant.

Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Zur Förderung Der Angewandten Forschung E.V.
Inventors: Greta Noelke, Stefan Schillberg, Fritz Kreutzaler, Mirna Barsoum, Rainer Fischer
  • Publication number: 20180105832
Abstract: The technology provided herein relates to novel methods and compounds for a multi-species pathogen infection control. In particular, the present disclosure pertains to methods of inhibiting the growth of a target pathogen expressing the cysteine-rich secreted protein (CSP), whereby the method comprises contacting said target pathogen with an inhibitor against said CSP, wherein said inhibitor inhibits the CSP expression and/or binds to a protein product of a gene coding CSP. Nucleic acid molecules encoding said inhibitors, vectors and host cells containing the nucleic acids and methods for preparation and producing such inhibitors are also disclosed, as well as the use of said CSP-inhibitors for the control/treatment of diseases associated with a microbial pathogen expressing CSP.

  • Patent number: 9371538
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for stimulating the growth of the plants and/or improving the biomass production and/or increasing the carbon fixation by the plant comprising introducing into a plant cell, plant tissue or plant one or more nucleic acids, wherein the introduction of the nucleic acid(s) results inside the chloroplast of a de novo expression of one or more polypeptides having the enzymatic activity of a glycolate dehydrogenase made up from translationally fused subunits of bacterial multi-subunit glycolate dehydrogenase enzymes.
