  • Patent number: 6450865
Abstract: A support for supporting a work piece to be machined is provided. The support is for use in a machine adapted to receive fluid from a fluid source. The machine includes a tool for removing material from the work piece. The support includes a body defining a chamber therein and an inlet operably associated with said body. The inlet is in communication with the chamber. The inlet is adapted for communication with the fluid source. The support also includes an outlet operably associated with the body and in communication with the chamber. The outlet is adapted to provide a stream of fluid for supporting the work piece.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 17, 2002
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
Inventors: Grethel K. Mulroy, Thomas L. DiGravio, Steven M. Sippel
  • Patent number: 6327452
Abstract: A roller includes a core and a ceramic coating formed over the core. The roller has a composite runout of less than 20 &mgr;m and a total indicator reading runout of less than 7 &mgr;m. The ceramic coating has a smooth finish and has controlled electric properties. This roller can be used as a donor roller for transporting toner to a photoconductive member so as to achieve high-quality image development.

  • Patent number: 6244937
Abstract: A vibration inducing grinding wheel for removing material from a workpiece is provided. The vibration inducing grinding wheel is for use in a grinding machine. The vibration inducing grinding wheel includes a generally cylindrically shaped body defining a cylindrical outer periphery thereof. At least one of the composition and the contour of the outer periphery is selected so as to provide a vibration to the grinding machine such that the straightness of the workpiece is thereby improved with respect to the straightness of the workpiece ground by a standard grinding wheel having a cylindrical outer periphery thereof, the contour and composition of the outer periphery of the standard grinding wheel being uniform.
