  • Patent number: 11102589
Abstract: A hearing aid and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the hearing includes a body that at least partially conforms to the contours of an external ear and is sized to engage therewith. Various electronic components are contained within the body, including an electronic signal processor that is programmed with a respective left ear qualified sound range and a right ear qualified sound range. Each of the left ear qualified sound range and the right ear qualified sound range may be a range of sound corresponding to a preferred hearing range of an ear of the patient modified with a subjective assessment of sound quality according to the patient. Sound received at the hearing aid is converted to the qualified sound range prior to output.

  • Patent number: 10993047
Abstract: In one embodiment of the system, a programming interface is configured to communicate with a device. The system screens, via a speaker and a user interface associated with the device, a left ear—and separately, a right ear—of a patient. The system then determines a left ear hearing range and a right ear hearing range. The hearing ranges are modified with a subjective assessment of sound quality according to the patient. The subjective assessment of sound quality according to the patient may be a completed assessment of a degree of annoyance caused to the patient by an impairment of wanted sound.

  • Patent number: 10893370
Abstract: A system and method for aiding hearing are disclosed. In one embodiment of the system, a programming interface is configured to communicate with a device. The system screens, via a speaker and a user interface associated with the device, a left ear—and separately, a right ear—of a patient at an incrementally selected frequency between a frequency range of 50 Hz to 5,000 Hz, with detected frequencies being re-ranged tested to better identify the frequencies and decibel levels heard. A frequency range of 5,000 Hz to 10,000 Hz is then tested. The system then determines a left ear preferred hearing range and a right ear preferred hearing range.

  • Patent number: 9304310
Abstract: A STED microscope for producing a 3D image. The microscope has an excitation laser source for providing an excitation laser beam and a depletion laser source for providing stimulated emission depletion laser beam. The excitation beam is capable of exciting fluorescent markers in a sample placed in the sample region and the depletion beam is capable of inducing stimulated emission in the fluorescent marker in the sample in a region around the excitation beam to restrict the size of the region within which the fluorescent markers are excited and wherein the depletion laser source goes through an optical element which creates a cone refractive pattern which induces stimulated emission in the fluorescent marker in the sample. The shape of the light hollow of the cone refractive pattern varies at different distances from the source. This depth profile can be used to distinguish between positions at varying depths within a sample to create a 3D image.

  • Publication number: 20140104678
Abstract: The present invention uses nonlinear crystal waveguides to provide a continuous wave and picoseconds pulse laser systems that gives an order-of-magnitude increase in IR-to-visible conversion efficiency and also provide an order-of-magnitude increase of wavelength range for SHG conversion. The idea of enabling such broad tunability is based on the utilization of a significant difference in the effective refractive indices of the high order and low order modes in the waveguide. This feature enables the difference between the effective refractive indices of the fundamental and second-harmonic waves to be shifted to match the period of poling in a very broad wavelength range.
