  • Patent number: 10812664
Abstract: A power transmission system includes a voltage measurement device located on a tower or rooftop for measuring a voltage (VRRH) at a top end of a DC cable connected to a remote radio head (RRH). A voltage control system receives an input voltage (VIN) from a DC power supply and generates an output voltage (VOUT) at a base end of the DC cable. The voltage control system calculates a voltage drop on the DC cable based on the VRRH measurement and then adds different voltage steps to VIN so VOUT compensates for the voltage drop. Calculating the voltage drop allows the PTS to more efficiently supply power to RRHs without having to increase the size of DC power cables.

  • Patent number: 9231399
Abstract: A circuit protection device includes an overvoltage monitor circuit that is operable to monitor a power supply circuit to detect an overvoltage condition on the power supply circuit and to change a state of an overvoltage output responsive to the overvoltage condition on the power supply circuit. A bi-directional switch is operable to interrupt or limit current flow though the power supply circuit responsive to the change in the state of the overvoltage output. A bi-directional voltage limiter is connected across output terminals of the circuit protection device and is operable to limit an overvoltage to a predefined voltage limit.

  • Patent number: 9099860
Abstract: A suppression system provides more effective protection for communication stations with distributed radio and power systems. The suppression system provides surge protection both locally close to the radio station building where the power plant and telecommunication equipment are located and remotely next to the radios and antennas located outside of the building on the communication tower. Local and remote suppression units may include monitor circuitry that monitor remote and local DC voltage levels and alarm conditions. The alarm conditions may include over-voltage protection failures, intrusions, and/or water infiltration. Displays on both the local and remote suppression units identify the voltage levels and alarm conditions.
