  • Patent number: 9480907
Abstract: A primary display displays a primary image. A peripheral illusion is displayed around the primary display by an environmental display so that the peripheral illusion appears as an extension of the primary image.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 9, 2013
Date of Patent: November 1, 2016
    Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLC
Inventors: Hrvoje Benko, Brett R. Jones, Eyal Ofek, Andrew Wilson, Gritsko Perez
  • Publication number: 20120223885
Abstract: A data-holding subsystem holding instructions executable by a logic subsystem is provided. The instructions are configured to output a primary image to a primary display for display by the primary display, and output a peripheral image to an environmental display for projection by the environmental display on an environmental surface of a display environment so that the peripheral image appears as an extension of the primary image.

  • Patent number: 7813774
Abstract: The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or a method that facilitates providing data entry associated with a keypad and a touchpad. An interface can facilitate receiving input data. A combined circuitry component can employ a keypad functionality and a touchpad functionality based on the input data utilizing a single circuitry.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 18, 2006
Date of Patent: October 12, 2010
    Assignee: Microsoft Corporation
    Inventor: Gritsko Perez-Noguera
  • Publication number: 20080204379
Abstract: Systems and methods that integrate audio capabilities within a display. A multilayered arrangement of dielectric and conductive layers can form a transducer that is integrated into the display. The dielectric layer can subsequently be charged (e.g., a biased voltage) and subject to a voltage to produce distortions and/or deflections of the dielectric layer, to produce acoustic waves that are audible to a user.

  • Patent number: 7038662
Abstract: Systems and methods of pointing in hand-held devices are described. In accordance with this scheme, a user may control the position where a pointer is displayed on a display screen simply by changing the orientation of the hand-held device relative to a currently preferred device orientation, which is tracked automatically. In addition, unintentional device orientation changes, such as periodic device orientation changes that might be caused by carrying the hand-held device while walking or driving, are filtered out dynamically. In this way, the pointer may be positioned accurately and reliably at any one of a plurality of pointer screen locations based upon changes in device orientation under a wide variety of different usage conditions.

  • Patent number: 6492761
Abstract: A digitally driven piezoelectric transducer uses a flat piezoelectric element having a plurality of electrically isolated conductive sections coupled to one side of said piezoelectric element and a conductive ground plate coupled to another side of said piezoelectric element. In addition, a resonant cavity is coupled to said piezoelectric element and intensifies the acoustic or sound energy produced by said piezoelectric transducer. This digitally driven piezoelectric transducer avoids the problems associated with electromagnetic interference by avoiding additional analog circuitry previously needed to create sound audible for humans.
