  • Patent number: 8142130
Abstract: Automatic placement of safety cones from a moving vehicle is provided. The preferred safety cone would have a flexible cone part. A receptacle holds a plurality of safety cones either with the flexible cone part in non-compressed position or in spring-loaded position. The receptacle is removably attached to the vehicle. A releasing means that is attached to the receptacle is controlled and advances the safety cones in an automatic and controlled fashion, one-by-one, to different locations on a ground surface from a moving vehicle. The advantage is that it automatically handles the placement of a plurality of safety cones while driving. There would be no more need for a person to manually place the safety cones. It provides for increased road safety since it decreases or even eliminates the number of fatal or non-fatal accidents as well as chronic injuries of road-workers that are involved in placing safety cones.

  • Patent number: 7827717
Abstract: A foldable traffic sign system comprises a relatively rigid sign panel and a plurality of folding lines disposed in the sign panel, for permitting ready folding of the sign panel into a substantially smaller configuration. In a preferred embodiment, at least one cut is disposed partially along a dimension of the sign panel, to further facilitate ready folding of the sign panel. One of the folding lines is disposed substantially horizontally across a center region of the sign panel, and at least one of the folding lines is disposed substantially vertically on the sign panel, and intersects with the horizontal folding line. The plurality of folding lines creates a plurality of sign sections, preferably six, defined by a combination of the folding lines and cuts in the sign panel. The sign system further comprises a folding sign stand, and a tote for containing both the sign panel and sign stand.

  • Patent number: 7571561
Abstract: A deployable temporary traffic sign system requires no roadside assembly, because the sign comprises a flexible sign panel which may be changed in size merely by folding one portion of the sign panel over a second portion of the sign panel about a crease line disposed therein. The sign itself is supported on a sign stand which is pivotally mounted to a support base.

  • Patent number: 7300165
Abstract: The invention provides new reflective markers, reflectors, and delineators with a variety of mounting apparatuses for attaching the same onto standard guardrails in an efficient and effortless manner, without affecting the safety feature, display utility, and visibility of the marker/reflectors/delineators mounted thereon. The present invention also provides a new guardrail reflector/delineator that is particularly useful in situations, locations, and/or places with limited or no lighting, for example, cloudy days, foggy areas, dark places, streets with no lights at night, etc.

  • Patent number: 7124892
Abstract: The present invention provides a holder device for securing one or more non-rigid safety cones, each of which having a flexible conical part that can be reduced to a small volume substantially linearly. The holder device has an open frame construction and is lightweight, compact, and durable. The holder device has two bracket-like main components that are movably joined or connected at one common end and that can be secured or locked together at the other ends. By selecting material and strengthening design configuration of the two components to counteract the spring force of the coil or coils held therebetween, by strategically placing a positioning element to secure the cone or cones centrally, and by supporting their base from at least three sides, the holder device of the present invention offers sufficient support and efficient stowage of non-rigid safety cones in a convenient, secure, and cost effective manner.

  • Patent number: 7036701
Abstract: A trash disposal device and method is provided that can be used to dispose litter and cigarette litter in particular. The device includes sheets of material forming a rectangular box casing that has a slot. Heat resistant material sheets are positioned within the casing such that the sheets may be pulled out of the casing through the slot. A sheet can be pulled out from the device and shaped into an ashtray-like shape that can be used to collect for instance cigarette litter. The ashtray-like shape with the litter can be folded up into a small package and then be placed in a storage area that could be part of the device. The trash disposal device could be assembled with foldable material to form the casing with a slot.

  • Patent number: 7007630
Abstract: A marker device for increased road safety due to a flexible design is provided. The marker device includes a base with an opening and a flexible means that is positioned over the base. The flexible means has a fast impulse response to direct (contact) and indirect (no-contact) perturbations with one or more parts of the flexible means capable of deflecting up to about 180 degrees from their original position. In one example the deflection ranges from about 15 degrees to about 180 degrees. The marker device increases the likelihood for the marker device to remain upright once the perturbations disappear, therewith increasing the likelihood for the marker device to remain serving as a marker device safely alerting traffic; i.e. its intended purpose.

  • Patent number: 7007420
Abstract: The present invention provides a barricade sign that is compact, portable, safe, durable, versatile, and weather/wind resistant. The barricade sign distinguishes a base and a lid that are pivotally connected together. The base supports the lid and has a compartment for storing one or more safety cones or signs that can be reduced to a small volume, or any other items related to road safety. One side of the lid has a positioning element for securing the cones in place. The other side implements a desired sign. The connection between the base and the lid is configured to hold up the sign in a stable, sustainable, wind resisting manner in absence of impact and to collapse, fold, close, or break upon impact. In such an encounter, the overall height and the layered or curved shape enable the barricade sign to act like a speed bump, thereby minimizing or eliminating damages.

  • Patent number: 6928952
Abstract: A compact safety cone that can self-right when in use and be reduced to a compact size when not. The compact safety cone has a base, flexible means, and cover. The spring flexible means coils around the center of the base in decreasing diameters without overlapping. The compact safety cone has a substantially low center of gravity due to the weight distribution among its components. By design, the compact safety cone has a fast impulse response to direct (contact) and indirect (no-contact) perturbations and is capable of being run over or hit by a vehicle and “self-right” substantially immediately after the impact. When not in use, an integrated holding means conveniently and securely keeps the flexible means to the base. The holding means can be, e.g., a cover, lid, light, sign, mirror, box, case, hook, latch, strap, Velcro, pin, lock, etc. In some cases, an optional handle may be included.

  • Patent number: 6766760
Abstract: A new marker device is provided for increased safety due to a flexible design. The marker device includes a base and a flexible means that is positioned over the base. The bottom part of the flexible means is attached to the base. The flexible means maintains in an original position in absence of a natural or traffic perturbation. However, flexible means deviates from this original position in presence of a natural or traffic perturbation. Moreover, the flexible means restores from this deviated position back to the original position after the perturbation disappears or is removed. Furthermore, the marker device includes a cover to cover the flexible means.
