Abstract: Provided is a toroidal mixed nanoparticle including a first polymer and a second polymer interacting with the first polymer. Also provided is a method for preparing the toroidal mixed nanoparticle, including mixing the first polymer and the second polymer having cleavable hydrophobic groups to form a mixed nanoparticle; and removing a portion of cleavable hydrophobic groups from the second polymer to make the second polymer charged and to form the toroidal mixed nanoparticle. Further provided is a method for delivering a drug or a bioactive agent to a subject in need thereof, including administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition that includes the toroidal mixed nanoparticle conjugated to an effective amount of the drug or the bioactive agent, and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient thereof.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to anti viral compounds. The disclosure includes a method for preventing and/or treating a virus infection through the inhibition of a cysteine protease in a virus and/or a sodium taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide in a cell, particularly SARS-COV-2 and hepatitis B virus (HBV). Also provided includes the composition/pharmaceutical composition for preventing and/or treating a virus infection comprising any of the compounds, pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or its mixture, and the use of the compounds.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a brown Flammulina velutipes extract for inhibiting acute kidney injury caused by cisplatin. With the water extract of brown Flammulina velutipes, which reduces the renal histological changes, the production of creatinine, blood urea nitrogen in the acute kidney injury caused by cisplatin.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention are directed to a pharmaceutical composition comprising an anti-inflammatory or an anti-hyperalgesic effective amount of isolated or purified Ipomomoea batatas trypsin inhibitor and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The Ipomomoea batatas trypsin inhibitor may be derived from a sweet potato leaf or storage root. Also contemplated are methods of treating inflammation or hyperalgesia comprising selecting a subject suffering from inflammation or hyperalgesia, such as a subject with edema; and administering an anti-inflammatory or anti-hyperalgesia effective amount of amount Ipomomoea batatas trypsin inhibitor or a composition comprising an amount of Ipomomoea batatas trypsin inhibitor to the subject; wherein inflammation or hyperalgesia in the subject is reduced upon administration.
