  • Publication number: 20100121418
Abstract: The present invention provides a skin cooling system which can improve skin cooling efficiency and significantly reduce thermal damage and pain caused by heat generated during treatment, using a handpiece for injecting cold air, water, or a mixture of cold air and water. For this purpose, the present invention provides a skin cooling system including: a handpiece for focusing therapeutic light energy onto the surface of the skin for treatment and injecting cold air, water, or a mixture of cold air and water to the skin during treatment; a cold air supply means connected to the handpiece to supply cold air; and a cold water supply means connected to the handpiece to supply cooling water.

  • Publication number: 20090093868
Abstract: The present invention provides a laser apparatus for medical treatment using pulse trains, in which the skin is cooled to a given temperature and then one or more laser pulses are applied to a to-be-treated region at specific intervals, thereby alleviating a pain associated with a skin disease and activating a dermis layer. According to the present invention, a pain caused during the treatment process is alleviated by using laser pulse trains and a cooling unit, and heat energy is transferred to only a dermis layer of a to-be-treated region without eliminating an epidermis layer of the to-be-treated region, thereby remarkably improving the treatment recovery period and the frequency of treatments as compared to the conventional treatment method.

  • Publication number: 20090093866
Abstract: The present invention provides a composite light source apparatus for phototherapy of skin disease, in which a light beam having the wavelength and optical power suitable for light-beam treatment is provided to a region to be treated (also called a ‘to-be-treated region’) through a light guide by using a composite light source so as to improve efficiency of phototherapy of skin diseases of the body including acne, malignant tumors and the like. According to the composite light source apparatus, uniform optical power can be provided through a combination of a plurality of light sources, the optical power can be provided through selection of light of a wavelength range that a user wants, and light from the light sources can be utilized to the maximum with increased light intensity.

  • Publication number: 20080180950
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for white light observation and fluorescence diagnosis of skin diseases. More particularly, the present invention provides an apparatus for photodynamic diagnosis in which a plurality of excitation light emitting diodes (LEDs) is provided in an image pick-up head, the excitation LEDs being arranged to illuminate the entire examination region in the form of a mosaic by setting respective illumination light axes of the excitation LEDs to illuminate preassigned individual areas of the examination region, thus uniformly illuminating the examination region in a wide field of view with excitation light. In the apparatus for photodynamic diagnosis, the respective excitation LEDs are provided at the same or different angles based on the light axis of the object lens, and thereby it is possible that the beams of the light sources composed of the LEDs illuminate the field of view of the examination region uniformly, thus improving the uniformity of illumination.

  • Patent number: 7049736
Abstract: Background plasma electrons in a laser wake field are trapped and accelerated using a sharp downward density transition. A short and intense laser pulse travels through low density plasma with a sharp downward density transition. The density transition scale length is much smaller than the wavelength of a laser wake wave. As the laser wake wave passes the density transition, its wavelength increases suddenly so that some background plasma electrons are self-injected into the acceleration phase of the wake field and trapped and accelerated by the strong laser wake field.
