    Abstract: An interfacial process for preparing a poly(aliphatic ester-carbonate) includes providing an initial polymerization reaction mixture comprising an aliphatic C6-20 dicarboxylic acid, a bisphenol, an alkali hydroxide, and optionally a catalyst in a solvent system comprising water and an immiscible organic solvent, adding an initial portion of a carbonyl dihalide over a first time period while maintaining the reaction at a first pH from 7 to 8; and adding a second portion of the carbonyl dihalide over a second, subsequent time period while maintaining the reaction pH at a second pH from 9 to 12, to provide a product polymerization mixture, wherein the amount of alkali hydroxide in the initial polymerization reaction mixture is effective to increase the fraction of the first time period at a measured pH of 7 to 8 compared to the same reaction mixture with a higher amount of alkali hydroxide in the initial polymerization mixture.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for evaluating the whitening effect of oral care composition on a stained egg comprising staining an eggshell, applying the oral care composition to a portion of the stained eggshell to obtain a treated eggshell area, calculating a ?E value for the difference in color of the treated eggshell area compared to untreated stained eggshell when calculated in L*a*b color space, wherein the oral care composition comprises at least one high cleaning silica for stain removal. Further disclosed herein are methods for demonstrating the whitening effect of an oral care composition on a stained egg comprising showing an egg that has been stained to at least one consumer and brushing an oral care composition comprising at least one high cleaning silica for stain removal on a portion of the stained eggshell to obtain a treated eggshell area.

One method includes combining a phosphor component and a polycarbonate component to form a phosphor-polycarbonate composition; and at a fixed phosphor concentration, combining the phosphor-polycarbonate composition with a diffusing agent comprising polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), wherein the diffusing agent diffuses light, and wherein the phosphor-polycarbonate composition exhibits an increase in chromaticity coordinate (CIEx) as determined by CIE 1931 or increase in CIE 1976 (u?,v?) of at least about 5% relative to a substantially similar reference composition in the absence of PTFE.
