    Abstract: A non-isolated LED driver has a converter which delivers first and second outputs. A sense circuit is coupled to both the first output and the second output, between the converter and an LED unit. The currents at the first output and the second output are compared to obtain a difference therebetween, and a leakage fault is determined based on an alternating current component of the difference. This avoids the need for an isolated driver, by instead detecting a leakage fault and then taking appropriate safety actions.

At least one of the PFC converter (110) and the DC/AC converter (120) is responsive to the compensator signal to reduce the power to the lamp (140) when the electronic ballast condition parameter passes a threshold.

The method comprises determining generation of an electrical arc, the electrical arc being determined based on detecting a high frequency signal; isolating and filtering the high frequency arc signal; generating a signal having a frequency proportional to the frequency of the arc signal; and altering a frequency of the voltage applied to the load in response to the frequency of the signal.
