    Abstract: A method and a device for monitoring a cable system in the field of communications are provided. An optical signal emitted by an optical source to a transmission link of the cable system is divided into two paths of optical signals, in which one path of optical signals serve as local coherent light, and the other path of optical signals are transformed by multipath frequency shift to multiple paths of detection optical signals of different frequencies. A monitoring result is obtained by performing coherent detection, with the local coherent light, on the returned optical signals of the multiple paths of detection optical signals of different frequencies. The device includes an optical source, a multipath frequency shift module, and a coherency module.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a device and a method for colorless optical switching, where the device includes: a demultiplexer, configured to demultiplex the input multi-wavelength light into multiple beams of light with single wavelength; a first optical cross unit, configured to output the received multiple beams of light with single wavelength through target ports to an optical switch array; the optical switch array, configured to drop the light that needs to be dropped from multiple beams of light with single wavelength, receive the light added by the local node, and output the light that needs to pass in the multiple beams of light with single wavelength and the light added by the local node; and a combiner, configured to combine the light output by the optical switch array. The optical switch device and method provided in the embodiments of the present invention feature colorlessness, low insertion loss, and low costs.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and an apparatus for compensating polarization mode dispersion. The method mainly includes: extracting an SOP (state of polarization) and a PMD (polarization mode dispersion) value of an optical signal, generating an SOP control signal according to the SOP, and adjusting the SOP of the optical signal through the SOP control signal; and generating a PMD control signal according to the PMD value, and through the PMD control signal, compensating a PMD of the optical signal whose SOP is adjusted. Through the embodiments of the present invention, a rapid change of the SOP can be adaptively tracked, a poor PMD compensation effect caused by a failure of a PMD compensation unit to track a change of the SOP is avoided, compensation performance of the PMD compensation unit is improved, and rapid PMD compensation may be achieved.

A part of output ports of the optical switching unit are connected to input ports of the optical grouping unit, and output ports of the optical grouping unit are connected to input ports of the optical switching unit.
