Abstract: A method for implementing fast playout includes receiving a fast playout request sent by a client, where the fast playout request comprises a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) corresponding to content of a media file with a specified multiple of regular playout rate by the client, and the specified multiple of regular playout rate is determined by the client according to obtained media presentation description; and obtaining a content segment corresponding to the media file with the specified multiple of regular playout rate according to the URL, and sending a fast playout response to the client, where the fast playout response comprises the content segment corresponding to the media file with the specified multiple of regular playout rate. Therefore, fast online playing is implemented, and user experience is improved at the same time.

Abstract: A method for hierarchically requesting contents in a HTTP streaming system is provided, which includes: receiving a service information obtaining request transmitted from a client; returning a service information obtaining request response comprising media presentation description information comprising URL corresponding to multi-level service content; receiving a service request message being a GET message transmitted from the client, wherein the service request message comprises the URL of the multi-level service content; and returning to the client a service request message response comprising the service content corresponding to the URL of the multi-level service content, so that the contents are searched for directly according to the URL, thereby improving processing efficiency.

Abstract: In the field of media transmission technologies, a method and an apparatus for transmitting Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) media are provided, which solve a problem that a specific capability mode to be used cannot be determined when both a server and a client have enhanced functions. In the method and system for transmitting the HTTP media, the respective information of HTTP streaming media capabilities supported by the server and by the client are obtained. According to the obtained information of the HTTP streaming media capabilities supported by the server and supported by the client, the HTTP streaming media capability used by the server or the client in a subsequent media transmission procedure is determined. The server provides media services according to the determined HTTP streaming media capability; or the client obtains the media services according to the determined HTTP streaming media capability.

Abstract: Example embodiments provide a program recommendation mechanism that allows a user to recommend select portions of a media stream. For instance, one embodiment allows a terminal of a recommendation receiver to receive a recommendation message sent by a terminal of a recommendation originator, wherein the recommendation message includes a program identity (ID), an ID of a part of program stream recommended by the recommendation originator, or both. Further, an instruction message for instructing a media function (MF) server to deliver the part of program stream of the program is sent according to the program ID, the ID of the part of program stream, or both. Thereafter, the part of program stream delivered by the MF is received and played.
