    Abstract: The invention concerns a thin film of a permanent hydrophobic and optionally oleophobic finish for polymer surfaces. The film is formed from at least one layer of a water-soluble polycation and cationic synthetic resin. For further improvement of the oleophobic and permanent hydrophobic properties the film can additionally contain a long-chain surfactant or an alkyl-substituted polyanion.
