  • Patent number: 9626604
Abstract: A method for the dynamic printing process calibration of a printing press includes determining a calibration dataset for the colored halftones of the process colors, determining a calibration dataset for the gray halftones of the process colors, determining a weighting factor for the two calibration datasets as a function of the original print and calculating a combined calibration dataset from the two determined calibration datasets, with reference to the weighting factor. The calculated combined calibration dataset is applied to the calibration of the printing process of a printing press.

  • Patent number: 9471858
Abstract: A method controls the coloring of a printing press. In the method a test element is printed with a number of colored measuring areas. The printed colored measuring areas of the test element are then measured. Actual colorimetric values are calculated from the measured color values and then displayed. Reference colorimetric values are entered and adapted spectral color values are calculated. Densitometric, colorimetric, or spectral actual tonal values or actual tonal value gains are determined from the calculated actual colorimetric values of a subset of the colored areas of the test element. The densitometric, colorimetric or spectral reference tonal values or the reference tonal value gains are entered and adapted spectral color values are calculated by a comparison with the calculated actual colorimetric values. The adapted spectral color values for the calculation of color profiles, process calibrations and process control values are stored and the printing press is activated.

  • Patent number: 9451129
Abstract: A method for calculating spectral data records for spot colors includes the steps of generating or selecting spectral characterization data of a printing process; selecting colorimetrically defined spot colors from a color table; calculating the spectrum of the spot colors based on the spectral characterization data on a white printing substrate and on a black printing substrate; calculating the spectrum of the halftone spot colors from the spectra of the spot colors on a white substrate and on a black substrate; adapting the spectra of the spot colors to a defined white printing substrate; adapting the spectra of the spot colors to the predetermined values from the color table; adapting the spectra of the spot colors to a defined black printing substrate; and adapting the spectral dot gains to a defined standard. The calculated spectral data record are used for color control in a printing press.

  • Publication number: 20160004941
Abstract: A method for calculating substitution colors for spot colors by using a computer for computer-aided color control of a four-color printing process in a printing machine includes creating a set of characterization data, which describe the relationship between tonal values of the process colors CMYK used and resultant printed color values, by using the computer, adapting to the printing process and interpolating the set of characterization data by using the computer and calculating the substitution colors including or formed of two chromatic and an achromatic color from the adapted and interpolated characterization data with a basic condition by using the computer. The calculated substitution colors are used in the computer-aided color control of the four-color printing process to process a current print job.

  • Patent number: 8810857
Abstract: A method and a printing system for gray balance correction of a printing process include determining first color values at on a gray axis of a color space of a reference printing process. These first color values determine tonal values describing a corrected gray balance of the target printing process. To avoid wastage and a further proof for gray balance calibration of the printing process, second color values of the printing process, describing the corrected gray balance, are derived from the first color values. The tonal values of the target printing process corresponding to the second color values are determined from first characterization data and the second color values of the printing process. A correction function created from these tonal values describes the corrected gray balance. Determining corrected characterization data is also possible. A printing form is produced and a printing material is imaged by using the corrected gray balance.
