Abstract: A method for controlling the cooling of an industrial plant with at least one electrical component, such as, for example, a transformer, and having at least one cooling element for cooling the electrical components, uses at least one sensor for measuring the temperature and/or the viscosity of the coolant in the cooling system. An optimal control of the cooling system can be provided by way of controlling the electrical components with selected control profiles taking into account specific data for the electrical components.

Abstract: An aqueous polymer dispersion gives a film having high resilience in conjunction with reduced surface tack and good aging resistance under the action of light, heat and oxygen and is used for coating leather.

Abstract: Aqueous synthetic resin dispersions are obtainable by copolymerizingA) from 70 to 97.5 parts by weight of a monomer mixture containinga) from 40 to 75% by weight of butadiene (monomer I),b) from 25 to 60% by weight of acrylonitrile (monomer II),c) from 0 to 25% by weight of styrene (monomer III),d) from 0 to 10% by weight of one or more amides of .alpha.,.beta.-monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids of 3 to 5 carbon atoms (monomers IV) ande) from 0 to 10% by weight of other copolymerizable monomers (monomers V) andB) from 2.5 to 30 parts by weight of one or more copolymerizable monovinyl compounds (monomers VI) in aqueous emulsion at from 30.degree. to 70.degree. C. by a method in which not less than 50% by weight of the monomer mixture A is prepolymerized to a conversion of not less than 80%, and the polymerization is then continued with the addition of the remaining monomers A and the monomers B.These dispersions are suitable as binders for protective coats on leather.

Abstract: A process for waterproofing leather and skins with a silicone oil and the salt of an N-(C.sub.9 -C.sub.20 -acyl)-amino acid as an emulsifier for the silicone oil, which is carried out in the aqueous phase during or after retanning, and the use of salts of N-acylamino acids as emulsifiers for silicone oils in the waterproofing of leather and skins in the aqueous phase, and the mixtures used for this purpose.

Abstract: Magnetic recording media possessing a thin magnetic layer are produced by dispersing finely divided magnetically anisotropic material and conventional additives in a solution of a polymeric binder in an organic solvent, applying a layer of the dispersion to a non-magnetizable base by means of a knife-coater, then, if required, orienting the magnetically anisotropic material by means of a magnetic field and drying the applied layer, a high molecular weight organic compound which acts as a thickener being added to the magnetic dispersion.

Abstract: Emulsion copolymerization of acrylic or methacrylic acid esters with from 0.3 to 10% by weight of .alpha.,.beta.-monoolefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids and/or dicarboxylic acids and/or their amides, with or without up to 25% by weight of styrene, acrylonitrile, vinyl acetate and/or vinyl chloride, using the emulsion feed process, gives particularly concentrated copolymer dispersions if an emulsifier system of 0.01-5.0% by weight of a sulfuric acid half-ester of an oxyalkylated alkylphenol and 0.01-1% by weight of a dialkyl sulfosuccinate, where alkyl is of 6 to 18 carbon atoms, is employed and the polymerization is carried out at pH 2-6.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for insolubilizing casein coatings for leather utilizing alkoxy alkyl ureas. The coatings are cured in the presence of an acid catalyst. The casein coatings of the invention avoid the disadvantageous use of aldehydes such as formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde to cure the casein and reduce its water sensitivity and unexpectedly show improved wet abrasion resistance.

Abstract: Nylon copolymer containing piperazine and a process for finishing leather and imitation leather, having a surface of polyurethane or plasticized PVC, by applying a solution of this nylon copolymer and drying it. The overall properties of the finish are better then those of conventional finishes.

Abstract: A specific copolyamide and its use for finishing leather and leather substitutes, particularly those of polyurethane. A particular advantage of the copolyamide is its sealing effect counteracting the migration of dyes, plasticizers and fats, combined with other advantages such as good mechanical properties and the stability of the solutions.
