  • Patent number: 6402122
Abstract: A method for drawing a cable which inherently lacks tensile strength into cable channels or cable pipes includes providing a tensile yarn skin on the end of the cable before the step of drawing the cable into the channels or pipes. The yarn skin can either be a net hose or a spin-wrap applied onto the cable. One application of the method is the connection of the cable incoming at a terminal tower to a switching center or exchange.

  • Patent number: 6081645
Abstract: A cassette arrangement for cable sleeves or distributors is composed of a plurality of cassettes for light waveguides. Each cassette is mounted for pivotable movement between a storage position and a working access position. Each cassette has a pair of deflection elements with circumferential channels for receiving the excess lengths of the light waveguides which are stored in the cassette.

  • Patent number: 5939669
Abstract: An underground container has, in the upper region, a plinth-like open frame which encloses a box-like container to accommodate electronic subassemblies. The open frame prevents the penetration of water and dirt during mounting and repair work. The plinth-like open frame accommodates a sealing cover and a load bearing cover, both of which help prevent the penetration of water and dirt after installation of the container.

  • Patent number: 4728470
Abstract: A device for further processing a product which has a stranded element of at least one light waveguide or fiber loosely received in an envelope or sheath which was applied by an extruder, including two tempering chambers arranged in a line of feed from the last extruder with each chamber having at least one storage disk mounted for rotation therein.

  • Patent number: 4726750
Abstract: A device for encasing a rope-like strand containing one or more light waveguides, which device includes two extruders situated one after the other characterized by a fluid cooling device positioned between the two extruders for applying a cooling fluid to the external surface of a first layer applied by the first extruder to cool it prior to extruding a second layer thereon. The cooling device enables increasing the rate of travel of the rope-like strand during the extruding operation.

  • Patent number: 4713866
Abstract: An apparatus for attaching a cable to a messenger wire utilizing clip elements characterized by a frame having an arrangement for supporting the apparatus for movement along the wire, a feed arrangement for feeding individual clips which are interconnected in a tape form to a severing shearing arrangement and then applying the clips onto the cable and wire positioned below the cable and wire, a double-belt drive arrangement for engaging the free ends of the outside of the clips and moving the free ends in contact with the messenger wire, a folding arrangement for clamping the free ends of the wire together and folding them into a folded connection.

  • Patent number: 4702404
Abstract: A method and apparatus for precisely regulating the speed of movement of a sensitive fiber in a substantially contact-free manner. The method and apparatus may be used for applying a braking force to a fiber or for accelerating the fiber. The method and apparatus comprise providing at least two capillary tubes having bores of different inside diameters with the bores being axially aligned, introducing a flowing medium such as gas or a more viscous material into the interior of the capillary tubes to flow out the free ends with the majority of the medium flowing out the capillary tube having the larger diameter, moving the fiber axially through the two capillary tubes so that the flow of the medium in the bore of the capillary tube having the larger inside diameter creates a force applied in a direction of the flow to the fiber.

  • Patent number: 4689943
Abstract: A pay-out stand for supply reels utilized in manufacturing cables particularly light waveguide cables having a basket-like structure mounted for rotation around a horizontal axis with carrier members extending parallel to the axis adjacent the periphery of the basket-like members. The supply reels are situated on the inside of each carrier part, preferably in pairs, and the carrier parts are spaced so that access of the supply reels can be had from the outside of the stand to enable splicing the lead from a backup reel to a waveguide of a feed reel which is feeding a lead out of the pay-out stand.
