  • Patent number: 9233986
Abstract: Process for hydrophobizing a microporous thermal insulation molding comprising hydrophilic silica, in which the molding is treated with at least one organosilane and in which one or more organosilanes which are gaseous under the reaction conditions are introduced into a chamber containing the microporous thermal insulation molding comprising hydrophilic silica until the pressure difference ?p is ?20 mbar.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 27, 2011
Date of Patent: January 12, 2016
    Assignee: Evonik Degussa GmbH

  • Patent number: 6689286
Abstract: A shaped thermal insulation body comprises inorganic material. The shaped body has the following, weight-related composition: approx. 20 wt. % inorganic filling material: approx. 40 wt. % opacifier; approx. 10 wt. % fibrous material; and approx. 15 wt. % hardening agent as well as approx. 15 wt. % water. The shaped body only contains a small amount of fumed silica with a comparatively small BET surface. Water glass is excluded during its manufacture. It can be used as a spacer for radiant heaters.

    Filed: February 27, 2002
Date of Patent: February 10, 2004
    Assignee: E.G.O. Elektro-Geraetebau GmbH

  • Publication number: 20020197464
Abstract: A shaped thermal insulation body comprises molded and/or sintered thermal insulation material and contains fumed silica, inorganic fillers, opacifiers and fibers. The BET surface of the thermal insulation material is below 100 m2/g, e.g. between 10 and 100 m2/g, so that the shaped thermal insulation body absorbs less water. In the case of radiant heaters, the shaped thermal insulation body can be used as a base for heating resistors.
