  • Patent number: 8325734
Abstract: The method for throttling uplink traffic in a wireless communication system includes inserting an unassigned state flag in a downlink time slot. A state flag indicates, when assigned, which mobile station should transmit during an uplink time slot associated with the downlink time slot.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 17, 2008
Date of Patent: December 4, 2012
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent
Inventors: Kenneth C. Budka, Wolfgang Lesch, Guenter Lothar Wolf
  • Patent number: 7834563
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for controllably moving a plurality of antennae in a wireless communications system. The method comprises activating a first and second actuator associated with a first and second one of the plurality of antennae to move the first and second antennae to a desired position. The power delivered to the first and second actuators is measured, and at least one parameter of at least one of the first and second actuators is reduced in response to the measured power being greater than a setpoint.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 29, 2006
Date of Patent: November 16, 2010
    Assignee: Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc.
Inventors: Claus Martin Keuker, Guenter Lothar Wolf

  • Patent number: 7269387
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for detecting at least one repeater between a base station and a mobile unit. The method includes determining a first estimate of a distance traveled by a signal on a wireless communication link between the base station and the mobile unit, determining a second estimate of the distance traveled by the signal on the wireless communication link between the base station and the mobile unit, and comparing the first and second estimates. The method also includes determining whether the signal was processed by the at least one repeater based upon comparing the first and second estimates.
