  • Publication number: 20080284414
Abstract: A hysteresis brake is provided, such as for an electric camshaft adjuster, has with an excitation coil, a stator with an inner and outer stator part, and a moveable rotor with a hysteresis band which is movable between the inner and outer stator part. The excitation coil, which produces a main magnetic flux for a magnetic adjuster is arranged between the inner and outer stator part. A sensor enables the rotor and/or the hysteresis band to receive a secondary magnetic flux caused by the main magnetic flux, or enables the excitation coil to receive the main flux. An evaluation and control unit evaluates the magnetic flux received and determines angle and/or rotational speed information from detected changes of the magnetic flux.

  • Patent number: 7237536
Abstract: In a method for ascertaining the position of a mobile closing element of an injector valve in a motor vehicle engine, in which the closing element is driven by a piezoelectric element for opening or closing the injection valve and a voltage signal allocated to an electrical voltage recorded on the piezoelectric element, the position of the closing element is ascertained from the ascertained voltage signal. Through a two-way valve arranged on the injection valve, a change in the voltage signal is brought about based upon a change in the electrical voltage on the piezoelectric element as a function of the position of the closing element.

  • Publication number: 20060082252
Abstract: A method for determining the position of a movable shut-off element, in particular a valve needle, of an injection valve in a motor vehicle engine. The shut-off element is driven by means of a piezo element for the opening or closing of the injection valve. A voltage signal assigned to an electrical voltage detected at the piezo element is determined and used for determining the position of the shut-off element. By means of a model, a modelled variation of the voltage is determined and is likewise used for determining the position of the shut-off element. In particular, the determination of the position of the shut-off element takes place by using the difference from the modelled variation of the voltage and the determined voltage signal.

  • Patent number: 6274954
Abstract: The invention is based on an electromagnetic actuator for activating a gas exchange valve. The latter has both an opening magnet and a closing magnet, between which an armature which is connected to a valve stem is arranged in a coaxially displaceable fashion. The armature is held in a position of equilibrium between the magnets by means of an upper and a lower prestressed valve spring when the magnets are in a currentless state. In order to be able to control the actuator better, a plunger coil is connected to a valve stem of the gas exchange valve and is arranged coaxially with respect to said valve stem. Said plunger coil dips into a radially magnetized air gap of an annular, axially magnetized permanent magnet.
