  • Patent number: 8860902
Abstract: A display device includes an integrated liquid crystal display and a backlight unit. The liquid crystal display is provided with a backlight system that includes a light-emitting element positioned along one or more sides of the display. In order to efficiently distribute and dissipate the heat produced by the light-emitting element, the backlight cover can cover the light-emitting elements and the area over the liquid crystal display. For shielding, the backlight cover can separate the display from an electronic circuit assembly. The backlight cover may be made monolithically of a heat-conductive material such as aluminum, as well as an electro-conductive material for shielding. The backlight cover may also provide mechanical support for the display device and mounting features to ease assembly and mounting to a target location. Such a display device may be deployed on a vehicle, for instance, as part of a vehicle navigation, communication, and/or entertainment system.

  • Patent number: 7657901
Abstract: The invention relates to a scanning device for optical storage media, having an optical housing with sliding bearings, which are arranged at a distance from one another, for linear movement on a guide rod, and with optical components in order to form an optical path. It achieves the object of designing a scanning device such as this in such a way that its adjustment, associated with a setting of the optical path, is simplified and can be carried out precisely. For this purpose, each of the sliding bearings is formed from a sliding bearing bush which is held on a guide block, that is fixed to the housing, in such a way that it can be adjusted in a radial direction with respect to this guide block, and is self-aligning in a direction at right angles to this.

  • Patent number: 7634783
Abstract: The invention relates to a scanning device for optical discs, having an adjustable scanning unit tensioned against a carrier with a spring. For minimizing the structural space for the spring and avoiding separate fixing elements, the spring is formed as a dip spring, having an elongated spring limb and a bearing limb formed transversely with respect to the latter, which clip spring impinges at one of its ends with the bearing limb on the carrier with a contact force and is supported at its other end at a distance from the impingement location on the housing.

  • Publication number: 20080002536
Abstract: An optical pickup and optical recording or reproducing apparatus incorporating such an optical pickup is recommended, which comprises an adjustment means to adjust the actuator plate of the optical pickup, which holds the objective lens, by moving the actuator plate AP on a straight reference surface arranged in the slide base of the optical pickup to a position as defined by alignment equipment to compensate tolerances between traverse mechanism and disc motor. The adjustment means is a screw for moving the actuator plate on the straight reference surface inside the slide base against a counter spring and the alignment equipment is formed by the optical pickup, which irradiates a light beam to an optical disc inserted into the optical recording or reproducing apparatus and receives a return light from the disc as well as means for moving the optical pickup radially of the spinning optical disc.

  • Publication number: 20070220532
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for reading and/or writing to optical recording media having an optical path formed from optical elements, a focusing lens arranged in a lens holder, and a suspension for the lens holder. It is an object of the invention to develop a device of this type. According to the invention, it is provided for this purpose that the suspension of the lens holder is arranged immovably on a base body having a first bearing surface, on which the optical path rests by means of a second bearing surface.

  • Publication number: 20070211583
Abstract: The invention refers to a pickup for moving storage media having a movable part movable in a 2D plane of motion where smaller airgaps between magnets and coils on a flat carrier are achieved by the movable part having a holder opening equipped to hold a part of the coil carrier in a range of positions which extend along an alignment direction which lies outside the plane of motion, and in that the part of the coil carrier is fixed within the holder opening in one position within the range; and to a manufacturing method thereof.

  • Publication number: 20060291365
Abstract: The invention relates to a scanning device for optical discs, having an optical housing with integrally formed sliding areas for receiving a scanning unit with a carrier with a scanning head arranged thereon, which scanning unit is provided with counter-sliding areas and is adjustable about a virtual axis, the scanning unit, with at least one adjusting apparatus which is supported on the housing and acts on the carrier and with at least one spring which acts on the carrier on that side of the sliding areas which is remote from the adjusting apparatus, being tensioned against the sliding areas and being adjustable by the adjusting apparatus. It achieves the object of configuring such a scanning device for optical discs such that the structural space for the spring acting on the carrier is minimized and a separate fixing element for said spring is unnecessary.
