  • Patent number: 7609098
Abstract: A driver circuit including an amplifier, which generates a control signal from a reference signal; a driver current mirror; and a control current switch located between the amplifier and the driver current mirror which selectably isolates the driver current mirror from the amplifier or connects the driver current mirror to the amplifier, wherein the driver current mirror, when in a state connected to the amplifier, amplifies the control signal into a driver signal. A compensating circuit is provided that generates a correction signal, as a function of an error current of the driver current mirror and provides the correction signal to an input of the amplifier, wherein a feedback signal input of the amplifier is fed through a feedback path from a feedback signal coupled out of a control branch of the driver current mirror, and the compensating circuit additively provides the correction signal at an input of the amplifier.

  • Patent number: 7145929
Abstract: A driver circuit and a method drive an electronic component such as a laser diode with a variable electric current that is controlledly switched between at least two discrete current levels. The driver circuit includes circuit elements that damp ringing or initial transient oscillations that arise when switching the current between the current levels. The driver circuit includes a current mirror having a mirror amplification factor dependent on the frequency of the variable electric current. In order to counteract parasitic capacitances and/or inductances leading to the ringing, an inductance and/or a resistance are connected between the two series circuits making up the current mirror, a capacitance is connected parallel to a reference resistor of one of the series circuits, and/or a capacitance is connected across the voltage supply.

  • Publication number: 20020079974
Abstract: In the previously known methods for tuning the PLL circuit, the loop filter has to be discharged again if the PLL circuit does not lock in. During this time, also known as dead time, the PLL circuit cannot detect any signals. With the new method, the PLL circuit can also detect signals during the discharge period of the loop filter. This avoids dead times and the signal detection by the PLL circuit is substantially accelerated. The data throughput is increased, especially when used in high-frequency applications such as, for example, in the field of mobile telephones.
