  • Patent number: 4468161
Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, a metal nut compacted and welded within the thickness of a metal sheet, within a sheet-aperture of lesser diameter than a top of the nut, spaced-apart compacted edge portions of the nut's top having a larger diameter than the nut's top at other edge locations in the compacted state, and the sheet's malleable metal of bottom portions thereof adjacent the aperture being compacted against and welded to malleable metal of a circumscribing side wall of the nut.

  • Patent number: 4444370
Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, four separate pipe support members are spaceable circumscribingly around a pipe to be supported, two mounted against one vise plate and a remaining two mounted against an opposing vise plate, with the vise plates compressed and held toward one-another by bolts extending through bolt holes in opposite ends of the respective vise plates, with the bolt at one end of the vise plate extending through bolt-mounting apertures of opposing ones of the pipe support members, and each pipe support member including in triangular arrangement with its bolt-mounting aperture recess-forming structures forming recesses mateable with corresponding triangularly-arranged opposing projections extending from the vise plate at each location of a supported pipe support member.

  • Patent number: 4442990
Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, the device for supporting plastic pipe provides a non-cutting smooth surface substantially linear in directions parallel to the longitudinal axis of the plastic pipe supported thereby, and includes substantially bilateral upper and lower halves of upper and lower concave seats having the non-cutting smooth surface, locked circumscribingly about the plastic pipe by spaced-apart bolts compressing together opposite clamping plates that cover and close openings in the backs of the pipe-support elements having the concave seats, and a sleeve element providing an elongated concave seat for lockably seating within a lower one of said upper and lower concave seats and providing support along an extended length of lower surface of a plastic pipe supported thereon, and mounting means attached to at least one of the clamping plates being adjustable variably to differing lengths such that height and progressing slant of a pipe line may be accomodated.

  • Patent number: 4402124
Abstract: For metal plate having a thickness of at least 1/4 inch thick, having a die-punched aperature therein characterized by a die-side hole of a greater diameter and flared aperature channel walls at the die-side hole as compared to an opposite punch-side hole of lesser diameter, inserting into the die-side hole a lower end of a shaft of a particular nut through the aperature and out of the punch-side hole, before pressing the nut downwardly into the aperature a lower edge of a nut head of a diameter larger than the aperature's diameter and smaller than the diameter of the die-side hole at a face of the metal plate on the die-side thereof, being positioned to rest on the flared aperature channel walls at a point spaced-below the face of the plate on the die-side face thereof, pressing the nut downwardly into the aperature, and pressing metal material of the metal plate into a recessed-space formed along an intermediate portion of the nut's shaft in which the intermediate portion has a reduced diameter as compared

  • Patent number: 4281786
Abstract: A pressing machine has opposingly spaced-apart compacting surfaces movable toward each other to weld malleable metal of a metal sheet having a nut-receiving circular aperture therethrough, into a welded state with a malleable metal of circumscribing side-walls of a cylindrically-shaped undercut nut mounted in the aperture. The nut's top has a greater diameter than the aperture. A bottom one of the compacting press surfaces has a raised rim or ridge, and an upper one of the compacting press surfaces has a plurality of raised portions, arranged in a circular array to overlap edge portions of the sheet at its aperture. With the plurality of raised portions pressing downwardly, and the ridge in a circular shape around an annulus hole of the bottom press surface, the compacting surfaces in a single compacting movement in compacting the sheet carrying the inserted nut having overlapping top edges, results in an article in which the metal sheet has become welded to the nut.
